Winkfield avoided the early pace with her, came around the leaders at the furlong post, fought it out gamely and got up in the last few strides. Miss Mae Day ran iu much improved form, showed much speed, but tired when the pinch came. Temptress was under punishment all through the last quarter. Sim W. was outrun all the way. Professor Neville raced Lathrop into submission in the first half and had enough in reserve to stall off Frivol in the stretch run. The latter finished fast and was wearing the winner down. She was bumped into at the start. Ethel Davis was hustled along all the way, was well ridden and had no mishaps. Captain Foraker, as usual, finished strongly. Talala ran a good race and was doing her best all through the last furlong to stall off Brief. The latter was knocked out of it at the start, but closed a big gap. finished very strongly and would probably have won but for interference at the start. Fonsoluca tired. Major Dixon was sore when going to the post. Firing Line swerved over in front of Brief and Glenwood at the start and all threa were as good as left. Optimo and Zonne were on the outside all the way. At least half the field was tangled up in the barrier at the start and Lindsey was swept off Dynasty.
