Evea G. displayed amazing speed and showed phenomenal improvement and can beat good ones on todays showing. Keeper secured a lucky start, had clear sailing, finished strongly and is steadily improving. Matin Bell was interfered with at the start and tired right at the end after a hard early effort to overtake the winner. Tiiona broke flatfooted and worked a rough passage to the stretch, where he was slowly gaining. Halmetta closed up much ground from a bad start. Canejo, nearly left, took the longest way around and finished well under a weak ride. Scratched 38514 Louwelsea, 1C0; S6497 Dandy, 99. Overweights Duke of York. 1 pound. Evea G., show, 11 to 5. Golden Light trailed the first two under restraint and appeared a sure winner to the last furlong, where he pulled up out of a bad pocket, losing several lengths and omly got to going fast in time to beat Matt Hogan. The latter got away badly and was repeatedly interfered with on the backstretch, but with clear sailing he finished fast and was possibly best today.- Doreen forced the pace throughout and was badly messed about, is out of place in sprints and is in extra good form. Golden Cottage was going well in the stretch. Florinel II. tired under the top weight and is a non-stayer. Volma Clark finished fast. Irene Lindsey forced the pace throughout, drew away decisively on tho stretch turn and outclassed the field. Hua-chuca, away poorly, worked a rough journey and suffered costly interference right at the end, bnt finished with a rush. Meehanns, under a vigorous, skillful ride, ran the best race ho has thus far shown, was always prominent and stuck to his work gamely. Jim Hale closed a big gap in the last half and is in rare form. Stnyvo, away poorly and forced to take the longest way around, found the track too hard and refused to extend himself. Sly is still short. Vohicer was outclassod. Corrigan was bnmprd at the start, but laid close to Flush of Gold and finally wore her down after a long and terrific drive, just getting up in the last stride and is in grand form. Flush of Gold made the running from the start and had the field behind her driving early and was apparently a sure winner when straightened for home, bnt faltered in the last few strides. Autolight, well up and dangerous on the stretch turn, fell away in the fiHal drive. Lode Star broke slowly and sulked in an effort to take the lead and possibly has trained oil. Winner Ch. f, by Crighton Nellie Bell trained by W. L. Oliver. Went to post at 4 :22. At poit 3 minutes. Start straggling. Won driving; second easily. Gaviota is a slow breaker and got away badly, trailed to the half, where she moved up fast and was leading when a furlong out. appearing a handy winner, but was unexpectedly driving at the end to beat Gold Van. The latter suffered from a weak finish and made a wide stretch turn and was probably best. Gold Bell failed to stay after forcing the pace to the stretch and is probably best in soft or muddy going. Nervator went a fast sis furlongs, and, at the weight, ran like a good colt, but was evidently short. Jockey Club was outclassed, but went well for five furlongs. Overweights Jockey Club, 1 pound. No show betting first three.
