With about five months to elapse before its decision and the probable striking: oat next March of many three-year-olds now eligible, discussion of the Kentucky Derby is of no great value, but there is one thing that may ba said of the present aspect of the race and that is, that the entries now promise a larger field and better race than has marked the decision of the contest that is the pride of Kentucky in a number of years past. In the list of eligibles the names of Savable, Irish Lad, Von Rouse, Bardolph, Early, Poor Boy, Lyman Hay, Mary Lavana, Whorler, Collonado, Janeway, Gold Bell, Spencer Eeif, Prince of Endurance, Onatas, Bad News, The Pickit, Woodlake, Captain Arnold, i Ornature and Ed Layson seem now to hold out assurance of a strong field and race worthy of the fame of the Kentucky Derby.
