1 HE KINGS HOESES. King Edwards stud, including the thoroughbred stallions, broodmares, foals, horses iu training and last years Grand National winner, Ambush II., make the grand total of forty-seven animals. It is a formidable array to be trainod aod groomed, and its extent is perhaps not so well known to lovers of horseflesh in the outside world. Other studs outnumber this interesting bunch, but nowhere is there to be had bluer blood or stock that has contributed so much to the success of the English turf at the present hour. Just now the royal stable is divided into three sections. Ambush II , with a special trainer and a couple of trial horses, is at the Curragh of Kildare in Ireland, undergoing rough winter work for the early spring steeplechase events; the horses in training, numbering eighteen, are with Richard Marsh at Egerton House. Newmarket. Here also are the three top-notch stallions, Persimmon, Diamond Jubilee and Florizel II., which, curiouslj enough, are brothers, located at the Heath Stud Farm. Tho foals, to the number of ten, and brood mares, sixteen, are at Sandringham stud. Then has been some weeding out in the training material, leaving only one three-year-old filly, Nadejda a remnant of the Perdita stock, and an own sister to his majestys Derby winners. She figures in the 10,000 events next year. This filly is the last of Perdita II.s nine foals. Races Races Year. Horses. Won. Lost.
