Evn Rice egan slowly and worked her way through in the run down the backstretch, caught Lord Penpar tiring a the stretch run and was going away at the end. Lord Pepper ran the best race he has shown at tlio -leetiog. Montanic began slowly, closed a big gap and just managed to last long enough to stall oil i Llfred C. The latter was crowded back while rounding the far turn, came wide into the homestretch nd finishing strongly would have been third in another stride. El Rey quit when called on. Ailyar was under restraint for the first half, but tired when Wink- ; teld called on him and may have been short. Pyrrho was.cut off at the far turn and fell back, interfer- ; ng with Optional. Bnchanan had Potenta under restraint for the first half, made v a lot of ground while rounding the far turn and put up a weak finish when it came to a drive Hono-ulu - showed the most early spaed, but tired after going six furlongs. Federal was under a drive all through the b ast quarter and Vandusen outrode Treanor when it came to a finish. Nitrate was cut off at the first t ;urn and ran a good race. Brief displayed much speed, which was excessively wa6tod by her sffort to set a fast pace for the first mile and a half, and she tired wlun called on for a final effort.
