Stratton wore Little Jack Horner down in the stretch run and easily drew away in the last sixteenth. The Caxton and Automaton fought it out all through the last furlong. The former came from behind on the extreme outside and swerved into Automaton and bumped the latter a couple of times at the sixteenth post. But for this Automaton might have boon second. Loftor was in a pocket for the first half, bnt saved ground at the turn into the homestretch, caught the leaders tiring in the stretch run and outgamed them when it came to a drive. John A. Clarke finished strongly and got second place in the last stride. Ceylon began slowly and closed a big gap, but tired when called on. Computation and Tom Wallace both showed speed, but tired. Wissendine was eased up in the last sixteenth and was on the extreme outside for the entire trip. There was a jam at the start and the last four were as gsod as loft. Bohul broke down. Old Hutch was never closely pressed and had things all his own way throughout, although Gannon got nervous and shook him up at the furlong post. Federal ran under restraint nearly all the way. Hoar had a short knot tied in his reins and put up a weak finish. Major Tenny did his best and tired at tho end. Old Hutch was kicked in the stifle while at the post and pulled up lame behind. Andes finished fast and was woaring the winner down and would havo won in another stride. Amigari ran a good race, but was tiring, and lay against Andes for fully a sixteenth in the stretch drive. The Way made up a lot of ground, but tired when it came to-the deciding drive. Vesuvia was used up chasing King Barleycorn and tired when strongly called on Throw out Satin Coats race. Jena was a strong contender throughout and stood the punishment gamely in the final drive. Shogun had a rough trip. He was bumped into several times in the first quarter and almost knocked down. Belvino displayed a lot of early speed, but tired fast aftor going three-quarters. Siphon finished well.
