Won handily; second easily. Winkfield kept Spec in the good going all the way and raced Safeguard to subjection in the first half, but was doing his best at the end to stall off Royal Deceiver. The latter was probably best and should have won. He was cut off on the backstrotch and Henderson raced him in tho deep going to get to tho leaders. Safeguard tired, but showed early speed and was off well in motion. Memphian was in tho heavy going all the way and ran a poor race. Kiwasa ran wU and will bear watching. Overweights Spec, li pounds. Russellton broke from the outside on the path and Fuller picked the good going all the way, raced El Roy to defeat in the first half and stood off a challenge from Benson Caldwell, and then Peat. The latter finished fast. Benson Caldwell appeared like tho winnor at the turn into the homestretch, but weakened when under pressure. El Rey waj swerving all over the track in tho last eighth. The saddle on The Black Scot slipped and Buchanan pulled him up. Passaic was on tho inside ia deep going all the way. Gin Spray ran poorly. Scratched 37115 Aratoma, 142; 37065 Insolence, 129. Won ridden out ; second driving. Mclntyre kept Bard of Avon in the good going all the way, wore the leaders down in the stretch run and got up in the last ten yards. Belvino carried Lady Alberta into the deep going next to the inside rail at the furlong post, bumped into her a couple of times ana knocked her off her stride, for which he was disqualified. Lady Alberta was always a sharp contender. Our Jessio was away all tangled up, closed a big rap and finished fast. Alpaca showed early speed, but quit. Lady Alberta was placed second and Ben Frost third. The judges overlooked Our Jessio. 8he finished a half dozen lengths in front of Ben Frost. Scratched-37102SBuccleuth, 106; 370652John A. Robbins picked his goinx with Rankin, kept him on the extreme outside all the way, raced Miss Shanley and Kaloma into subjection in the first half and came away without much effort in tho stretch run. Miss Shanley hung on longer than usual, but was driving to the limit at the end to stall off Flintlock. The latter began slowly and finished in the deep going. So did Kaloma. Mamselle beat the barrier and got off running, took the path in the first sixteenth and kept it all the way. Paramount began slowly, but closed a biff gap and finished fast. Fair Lass was crowded out into the heavy going for the entire trip. She ran a good race and is worth remembering. Dodona showed early speed, but tired and quit after going three furlongs. Helen Hey got off badly and made up much ground. Overweights Mamselle, 11 pounds; Helen Hay, 1; Gold Bride, li; Amusement, 41. Mamselle, show. 2 to 5. Paramount, show. 1 to 2. Potheon outclassed tho fild and was at home in the going. He lay along with King Barleycorn for the first mile, then shook him off in the stretch run and won with a lot in reserve. Erne came fast throusrh the stretch and, finishing between The Way and Sation Coat, got up in the last stride. The Way ran a good race and was under a drive all of the last quarter. Satin Coat came fast around the turn, but tired in tho final drive. Kins: Barleycorn showed much early speed and sustained it well for a mile, but tired badly in the final quarter. Scratched 37045 Alfred C, 101; 37115 8hutUp, 9$; 37120 Chickadee, 97 ; 37039 Mary Moore, 96. Overweights False Lead, 2 pounds; Compass, 11. Erne, show, 1 to 2. The Way, show, 3 to 5. M
