Myrtle H. ran a fairly good race. Master, away poorly, made up much ground and was going fast at the finish. Fairbury appeared sore and was always outrun and ran a bad raco. Frank Pearco received a bad ride and can do better. Intrepido favors soft going, but closed up ground from a bad start. Scratched 37C88 Rose of Hilo, 107; 37121 Dora I., 99; 37C9U Lapidus, 89. Andrew Ring worked a rough journey in the first half and waited overlong before making a move. He came up fast on the stretch turn and wore Merwan down after a long, hard drive in tho stretch and won going away. Merwan was lucky at the start and made the most of his advantage, displayed a good turn of speed and stuck to his work gamely. Young Mario w stumbled and was nearly left at tho start, then made up ground quickly, but the effort tired him at the end. He should improve. Brunei followed the pace closely for six furlongs, but failed to stay. Corrected weights Tortulla, 112. Overweights Baby Bird, 5 pounds. Andrew Ring, show, 1 to 5. Merwan, show, 2 to 5. Ros Farr is a quick beginner and with a lucky start drew away from the others at once and led by a wide margin, easing up at the end and was much the best today. Hoceo, away well and vigorously ridden, ran a game and improving race. Floriana Bell was a lucky third. Ravelena is a good looker and was closing up fast at the end. Selected was away poorly, but moved into prominence in the first quarter running on the extreme outsido and apparently failed to stay under a bad ride. Knobhampton ran a fast first quarter and tired. He appeared big and fat and was evidently short. He appears like a good one. Corrected weights Easter Lady, 1C9. Overweights Hoceo, 2 pounds. Rose Farr, show, 3 to 1. Hoceo, yhow, 3 to 5. Nigrette was lucky at the start, led throughout and gamely held her own in a long final stretch drive and won going away. Hermencia followed the winners pace closely and moved np fast in the stretch, but tired in the final sixteenth and was swerving badly. Dupont was interfered with at the start, but closed a big gap and might have won with an even start. Frank Woods was dismally outrun and unexpectedly failed in his accustomed stretch run. Tufts appeared short and was evidently outclassed. He favors soft going. Scratched 37124 Sweet Tooth, 1C9: 37125 Bessie McCarthy, 101. Nigrette, show, 1 to 4. Hermencia. show, 2 to 5. Barklyite, lucky at the start and vigorously ridden, just failed to got up after waiting a trifle too long before being sent along. Mexicana. away badly, closed up much ground. Cunard was given a lucky start and skillful rido, took the lead on the first turn and practically cantered for the first seven furlongs, but was brought to a mild drive at the end. He ran quite sore and as if short and far outclassed the field. Proper, away poorly, went wide on the first turn, was badly messed about and kert out of the race too long, but closed up like a good one in the last quarter and was wearing the winner down at the end. He requires a strong ride and can carry weight. Searcher moved up very fast on the stretch turn and appeared like winning momentarily, but was outsprinted in the last quarter by the first two. Claude had scant chance with the ride given him. Dainty was short and is highly tried and can do better. Bragg is coming around and stepped a good six furlongs. Cunard, show, 1 to 4. Proper, show, out. Searcher, show, 3 to 5. Dainty, show. 3 to 1.
