NOTES OF THE TURF. For a private price, H. M. Ziegler, of Cincinnati, has bought of Forsythe Brothers tha three-yaar-old brown colt, Gorey, by Flying Dutchman Sister, by King Alfonso. Gorey won three racss as a two-year-old last year, and is a half-brother to Sister Mary. W. OB. Macdonough, the owner of Ormonde, has lost four high-class brood mares by death. They were Anarchy, dam of the two-year-old Precious Stone, now winning on the coast for G. B. MorriB; Countess Langden, Sapianta and Enthusiast. The well known broodmare, Citronella, by St. Simon, dropped a bay filly last Friday morning by Commando, at Castloton Stud, the place of J. R. and F. P. Kaene. The youngster is said to show good size and conformation. Col. E. F. Clay has had the misfortune to lose by death the good bay mare Nutshell, by Hindoo The Niece, she by Alarm Jaconet, by Leamington. Just before her death she slipped a fine foal by Sir Dixon. Jockey Ranch will start east in a few days from San Francisco to report to the Yandarbilt people, for whom he is to ride in France next season. J. B Chicago.
