St. Cuthbert saved ground while rounding the far turn and was hustled along all of the last furlong to stall off Automaton. The latter ran to his beBt form and was easily second best today. Versifier ran well and hung on gamely. He will do to remember. Clorita showed early speed, but tired badly and was probably short. Little Jack Horner showed the most early speed but tired when challenged. Frank Konney was outrun in the first part of the race, but finished fast and outgamed Meran in a sharp drive. Aransas Pass displayed a high order of spoed and made a show of his company, broke well in motion and oponed up a winning gap in the first furlong. May Holladay ran well and outgamed Alcorn R. when it came to a hard drive. The latter made up much ground in the last furlong. Salto was interfered with at the start. Balm of Gilead was on the outside to the stretch turn and outgamed Frank Rice in the stretch drive, but swerved over to the inside in the last sixteenth. Frank Rico was crowed back at the start ana closed a big gap, but the effort told when. the piach came and hn tired. Duke Dashaway closed a big gap, caught Nyx tiring and beat her out in the last two strides. Pay the Fiddler displayed the most speed all the way and fought it out with Polly Bixby all through the last furlong, but swerved over to the inside rail in the last sixteenth and crowded her against the inside rail and ONeil had to pull up. Polly Bixby ran to hor best form. Bean tired when it came to a drive, but fully ran her race. Swordsman came to the outside at the turn into the homestretch, finished fast and was wearing the leaders down at the rnd. Florham ran well for six furlongs.
