Axminster Is eked early speed and was driving hard throughout, but under a vigorous finish finally wore Fossil down at the end, scoring a lucky victory. Fossil, re-served-TO the stretch turn, wont to the front in a flash and appeared a sure winner, but was anchored in deepSfjiing next to the rail in the last quarter. Doreen ran a fast and game race and is in very good form: Rose of May fell away after a half in good style. Colonel BHllantyne waa evidently not ready,--but looks good.
