Assassin got off well in motion, followed the pacemaker closely and coming along next to the rail in the homestretch run managed to last. Lady Hayman met with considerable interference but came fast when straightened out and was making the winner do his best at the end. Frank Jones held his position throughout. High Jinks came to life suddenly and ran in much improved form. Off none too well he made up ground quickly and wearing down Figurante at the final sixteenth won with something to spare. Figurante had no mishaps and ran her race. Tangible had a rough journey and finished next to the inner rail. Hergenie showed a flash of early speed. Overweights Enhance, 1 pound. Brandy Smash was off well in motion, raced to the front quickly and setting the pace won with a little in reserve. Juniper finished with a rush in the final fifty yards. Gumbo closed up strongly along the rail in the final sixteenth and managed to catch Suave in the final stride. Suave was used up chasing Brandy Smash and seemingly tired in the closing strides. Porphyrogene ran a fair race. Pat Garrett was shut off while next to the rail at the backstretch turn and was compelled to pull up and,go around his field. He could not make up the ground lost and was thrown out of the race. Hart D. showed speed for seven furlongs. Overweights Floria, 3 pounds. Madeline G., show, 7 to 10. Tobe Paine, show, out.
