GOSSIP OF THE TURF. Anew racing association to promote a track in Ottawa is about to be organized. It will be known as the Ottawa Valley Jockey Club and will b" capitalized at 00,000. The officers will be : Honorary president, the Earl of Minto, Governor General of Canada; provisional directors, the Hon. Charles Fitzpatrick, P. C, Minister of Justice; N. A. Beicourt, M. P.; C. Berkley Powell, M. P.P.; Alexander McLennan, former M. P., Cornwall; E. S. Skeak and F. X. Saint Jacques. The plans include a mile track and a steeplechase course, to be finished in time for a mooting this year. T. D. Sullivan has a string of racers in training at Memphis. They include the three-year-olds. Polite, Explorer and Squanto, and four two-year-olds, chestnut colt by Handsome Phillippa ; chestnut colt by Ben Brush Yvetta ; bay Ally by Senator McCarren Campania, and bay filly by The Commoner Gitty.
