GOSSIP OF THE TURF. The largest stable in point of numbers in training at Montgomery Park is that of G. C. Bennett and Co. Forty-six head of young and old horses are being handled by Henry McDaniel, the trainer of the stable. The bulk of the stable is made up of two-year-olds, but present prospects point to the Bennett colors being strongly represented in the all-aged division. Abe Frank, last years Tennessee Derby winner, and ante-post favorite for the American Derby, gives every evidence of training. Ed Austin, the fast sprinter which has been shelved since the early racing season of 1902, is also in training. Herodiade, by Hanover; Blennenworth, Monos and Little Scout are other four-year-olds that will make the stable strong in the race for handicaps and all-aged stakes. Princess Loraine, by the American-bred English Derby winner, Iroquois, and one of the most valuable of all of the great collec tion of mares at the McGrathiana stud of Milton Young, foaled a brown colt by Lamplighter last Friday. He is the first foal of this season by McGrathianas premier sire, and is a full brother to Lamp Globe. Frank Brown, who trains for Senator Mc-Carren, has returned to New York from New Orleans, where he saw McChesney race. He says: "In my opinion McChesney is a great horse of fine conformation and splendid action. He is easily placed, for he beats his horses, but not off, just managing to win. If he ever meets Hermis, however, I will have to bet on Mr. Bells colt. Durnell and Herz say they will sell McChesney for 0,000 and will not entertain an offer for him for less than that amount.
