NOTES OF THE TURF. John E. Madden has entered Onatas, Prediction and Yardarm in the Excelsior Handicap, indicating that he will begin racing on the metropolitan circuit much earlier than usual. Among the new subscribers to the Saratoga Special at ,000 for each nominator are P. J. Dwyer, S. S. Brown, J. Grant Lyman and Lawrence Waterbury. J. Smiths Northern Star has been declared from the Brighton Handicap. This is the only withdrawal to date. U. Z. DeArman has bought Benson Caldwell from A. Bellew, who claimed him from McCafferty. W. M. Walker has bought Mary Moore from J. W. Pangle.
