The latter finished with a rush and is steadily improving. Lone Fisherman ran kindly and was lucky. The Ledaean tired in the last quarter and can do better. He has worked well. Lunga got off poorly. St. Philhpina acted badly and was lucky to get away, but raced quickly into the lead, held it easily and far outclassed the field and the race should improve her. Florinel II. held on unexpectedly well. Sea Lion broke away slowly and closed a great gap irom the half and finished like a whirlwind and was easily second best. Troy quit in the stretch. Orsius went out like a quarter horse and the pace he set tired him almost to a walk in the last sixteenth. Action appeared the only serious contender and ran a suddenly improved race today, came with a belated rush at the end and almost caught the winner napping Byronerdale went well throughout, but was evidently short and can do much better. Warte Nicht got away slowly and was poorly ridden at the end. Quartre was outclassed, but ran a good race. Gorgalete, nearly left, trailed the procession throughout. Easily superior to his field on a mere speed basis he held on with unexpected gameness in a long stretch drive and was best. Royal Rogue, always close up went after the leader on the far turn with an electric burst of speed and appeared like winning when a furlong out, but suddenly and unexpectedly failed to make good and under the whip and a bad ride swerved across the track and just failed to get up. Double Six stuck to her work remarkably well and outstayed Beau Ormonde in a long stretch drive The latter was probably short and can do better. Honiton, away badly, trailed her field throughout and had no chance. Gravina got away poorly and loomed up dangerously in the stretch and then tired. Scratched 37640Dainty. 92. Bonnie Lissak, lucky and skillfully ridden, came through next to the rail in the last furlong and outstayed Rose of May in a long drive. Rose of May suddenly regained her speed and finished with a rush, but was swerving badly at the end, interfering with Velma Clark and was placed third behind the latter. "Velma Clark, crowded and bumping her way through on the first turn, followed the pacemaker closely and drew clear and was apparently winning when a furlong out, but was caught napping at the end by Bonnie Lissak and seriously bumped by Rose of May in the last few strides. Lapidus forced the pace to the stretch, where he was worn down. Jim Hale, bumped on the first turn, went a good six " furlongs, but likes the Oakland track best.
