GOSSIP OF THE TURF. All plans of horsemen located at Memphis for taking part in the Little Rock meeting have been abandoned and where there were several car loads that were to have been. shipped none will go. The high water in the inlands in Arkansas on the route of travel between Memphis and Little Rock has caused total suspension of railroad traffic and the only course open to horsemen was to ship via St. Louis. Jas. Arthur, S. S. Bender, J. S. Bratton, G. C. Bennett, C. E. Mahone, Ed Trotter, each of whom had a Derby candidate, besides other horses, have announced that they would remain at Montgomery Park. Capt S. S. Brown has shipped to Louisville the Brighton Derby winner Hyphen, to be prepared for his eastern engagements by R. Tucker at Churchill Downs. Along with Hyphen went Scioto, a sistetr to the famous mare Imp, and a .half dozen promising two-year-olds. Scioto is a candidate for a number of the big three-year-old stakes this season.
