Illyria is very fit, was in a good position throughout and stood a long stretch drive gamely, but crowded Ahola and Blue Orange on the turn out of the backstretch. Ahola displayed plenty of good speed and was weakly handled in the final furlong, Henderson letting go of her and allowing her to swerve several times. Blue and Orange finished very fast after being crowded back on the first turn and would have won but for the interference. Walbrook ran well for a half mile. Overweights Illyria, 1 pound. Miss Nancy, a fair sort of filly, but on the small order, outbroke her field and raced them into submission in the first three furlongs, but tired from her early efforts and had to be ridden out. Peter Paul had no mishaps and was skillfully handled throughout. Listaway began slowly and finished fast and should improve over this race. Swivit, probably short, showed speed but was used up in chasing the winner. She should have been third, but Blake eased up too soon. Scratched Royal Wisdom, 109. Miss Nancy, show, out. Won handily; second easily. Alma Girl made up ground all the way and finished gamely under the whip, getting up in the last few strides. Gibson Light fenced well and showed a lot of speed on the backstretch, but Finnegan made his run too soon and the gelding tired in the final fifty yards. Willard J. showed speed, but made a poor jump two fences from home and bolted to the outside fence. George Whitney was unruly and Mara had trouble all the way in trying to keep him from running out. Saffel on Vassal Dance lost his stirrups after a good six furlongs. Scratched 36449 Larva, 151. Overweights Alma Girl, 2 pounds; Burnish, 1. Alma Girl, show, 3 to 1. Gibson Light, show, 1 to 2. "Went to post at 4:25. At post 1 minute. Start good. Won easily; second the same. Carroll D. was much the best, raced Animosity into submission in the first half and easily drew away. He ran out in the stretch when a furlong from home, but was only cantering at the end. Knight of the Garter is in good form. He was shut off on the turn out of the backstretch and lost ground, but closed up fast in .the stretch under punishment. Moderator was a sharp contender for six furlongs. Animosity was plainly not fit for a brushing race and- tired in the final drive. Scratched 37914 Dark Planet, 102. No show betting. TQ Q FIFTH RACE 3-4 Mile. 00 added. 3-year-olds and upward. Goldsby came with a rush at the end and got up in the last stride under the whip. Geisha Girl would have won with a competent finish, but Walsh messed her about all through the last furlong. Prancer did his best and has been over-rated. Lowly, not preserved with in the final furlong, showed scant speed and has not performed to expectations. Fabius is in high flesh and needs a couple of races to fit him. Overweights Geisha Girl, 5 pounds. Goldsby, show, 4 to 5. Geisha Girl, show; 6 to 5. Redfern avoided the early pace with him and the colt closed up with a rush when called on in the stretch. Blue Victor ran a good race and showed early speed, but could not last the route at the weights. Larva was a contender for over six furlongs and was eased up at the end. Lucky Day swung wide on the first turn and then bolted to the outside fence. No show betting.
