Anvil, from an indifferent start, gradually improved his position and gaining the lead on the far turn came away from the field cantering and was much the best. Brennus was always prominent and easily second best. All About tired and fell away in the stretch run. Penances head stall slipped, but she evidently disliked the going as she tired after forcing the pace for the first half. Alms Giver closed a gap from ti poor start. Won driving; second easily. Educate, lucky at the start and judiciously reserved in the first half, made good with a winning stretch run. Nullah got away poorly and raced into prominence quickly and held on unexpectedly well in a long drive. Espirando ran as if short, but was favored by the going and should improve. Tyranus ran a game race under his weight and was going fastest of all at the end. Tom Slavin, not keyed up, fell away after going a good half. Lexington Pirate ran as if short, but displayed his old time speed for the first half. Educate, show, 2i to 1. Nullah, show, 2J to 1. Espirando, show, 6 to 5. Tom Slavin, show, 3 to 5. Toto Gratiot was skillfully handled, practically forced the pace throughout drew to the front on the far turn, picked the best going and put up a game finish. Warte Nicht, away badly and badly handled, improved his position from the start, but was kept in the deep going all the way and tired right at the end and was probably best. Past Master trailed under poor guidance and closed up very fast in the last quarter on his own courage. Mr. Dingle went well throughout. Byronerdale quit after going a good six furlongs. Won driving; second easily. Honiton got away in her stride and quickly raced into a commanding lead and although tiring rapidly she stuck to her work and put up a long and game, stretch drive. Epicure, away badly, closed a big early gap, traversed the deep going throughout and was wearing the winner down at the end. Princess Titania followed the winners pace closely to the stretch, where she unexpectedly failed to stay and was evidently short. Long distance races have dulled Lady Kents early speed, and in spite of beating the barrier she lost much ground but was gaining fast at the end. Tower of Candles whirled at the start and was practically left. Honiton, show, 1 to 2. Epicure, show, out. Princess Titania, show, 3 to 5. gjQgT FIFTH RACE 3-4 Mile. Purse 00. 4-year-olds and upward. Mildred Schultz won as if she outclassed the field in the going. Away in her stride, she made the "most of her advantage and led unextended throughout. Pat Morrissey closed up very fast in the last quarter after being forced into the deep going from the start. Sug-den had clear sailing and came with a belated rush at the end and can do better. Arthur Ray was a contender when a sixteenth out and then quit. Jerid favors stiff going, but can not beat this kind in his present form. Sunello was lucky at the start, ran on the outside with clear sailing and in the best going, was outrun to the stretch where he closed up gamely under a vigorous ride and caught the -leaders tiring. I. O. U., favored by the going, ran a superior race, went into active contention early in the race and drew clear when a furlong out like an easy winner, and was caught napping at the end. Lena was a prominent contender throughout and only retired after being crowded in the last few strides. Sea Lion failed to stay after leading for nearly seven furlongs. Yellowstone fell away in the last sixteenth only and had scant chance with an incompetent rider. Scratched 37924Larry Wilt, 110. Sunello, show, 1 to 2. I. O. U., show, 3 to 1. Lena, show, 6 to 5.
