Louise Elston received a lucky start and displayed plenty of speed, but was tiring at the end and doing her best. Mezzo would have won with an even start, closed a big gap, but tired in the final drive. Trapezist finished well. Hist weakened badly when hard pressed. Mollie Peyton finished fast. Nuptial was poorly handled throughout. Loravale was eased up when beaten. Wheeler B. got off badly. Lucky Day was. crowded back in the early rush for positions. Pleasant Memories was a sharp contender for a quarter then tired Sunglint was green at the barrier and was practically left, but displayed some speed on the turn and should improve over this performance. It was an ordinary gallop for the winner as every one of the others fell during the journey. Goldray unseated Bernhardt when going over the last jump, but the latter held his horse and remounted beating Strikealight for second place in a drive. The latter fell at the first jump, but Mr. Taylor remounted and finished. Tankard was going well when he fell and would surely have been second. Scratched 33S0G Fred Ackerman, 146. Arius, show, out. Geisha Girl was waited with today and ran a fine race. Walsh made up ground gradually with her and she closed up gamely in the stretch, but was tiring at the end and was doing her best. Pearl Diver had no mishaps, was fit and good and beaten on her merits, but was the best of the others. Plantagenet showed speed, but found the route too far today. Charmel made up a lot of ground after being crowded out at the start. Wal-brook ran poorly. Lowly was practically left at the post. Chief Aloha showed a flash of early speed. Mrs. Frank Foster showed her usual fair flight of speed, but ran as if a bit short and was tiring at the end, Redfern having to ride hard to get home. Shrine is good and fit, was slowly gaining at the end and would have won in a few more strides. Lady Welbeck was third only because Tenagra was not up to a race. Rough Rider received the benefit of a skillful ride. Hicks avoided the early pace with him and came around the field on thestretch turn, went to the front when ready and rode him out although it was not necessary. Knight of the Garter was in a pocket to the turn but of the backstretch where he was shut out, then came wide into the stretch and finished fast next to the outside rail. Benckart could not last the route and tired in the last hundred yards. Ben Howard was used up in forcing the pace and tired after going well for nearly seven furlongs, being eased up at the end. Scratched 37966 Black Dick, 111. Overweights Rough Rider, 1 pound. No show betting.
