The Forum was well ridden and ran a good race. Gilmore laid in behind the leaders for the first half, with him, took command on the turn for home and came away quickly in the stretch. Lynch was on the outside all the way, finished fast and caught Beautiful and Best tiring and got second place in the last stride. The latter showed much early speed, but tired as if short. Glendon began slowly and closed a big gap. Lady Winkle and Afghan ran well to the stretch. Choice ran poorly. Overweights Beautiful and Best, 2 pounds; Insolence, 2; Bill Logan, 5. Went to post at 3:06. At post 7 minutes. Start poor. Won ridden out; second easily. Miss Fleischmann was off running and showed a go"od burst of early speed, but was tiring- at the end. Sweet Gretchen ran green and began slowly, but closed a big gap and flnlshec fast and was running past horses at the finish. Pure Favor ran well, but was tiring fast afc the end. Latoila was poorly ridden. Hall ran her into a couple of pockets and put up a weak ride when it came to the finish. Subsequent to the race Miss Fleischmann was dis- qualified on a protest from L. Marder, trainer of Pure Favor. The owners of Miss. Fleischmann had claimed a five-pound allowance which they were not entitled to. No official action was taken as to betting. Scott to retirement in the first half and came away without strong urging in the lastfurlong. Semper Vivum had a rough trip, was cut off on the backstretch and at the far turn and came through on the inside at the turn into the homestretch and tired in the final drive. The race should improve her. The Don finished going fast and would have been second in another stride. John A. Scott stumbled when the barrier went up and was used up in getting to the front on the backstretch and tired when it came to a drive. Tancred ran poorly and can do better. Myron Dale was off well in motion, raced Escalera to subjection in the first three furlongs and had enough left to stall off a challenge from Montholon. The latter ran his race and had no mishaps. Dr. Loder began slowly, but finished going fast and outgamed Bird Pond. The latter ran her race. Rainland is a slow breaker and Donnelly could not get him to going freely.
