Went to post at 2:13. At post 2 minutes. Start bad. Won easily; second the same. Judge Voorhees ran in suddenly improved form. Away badly, he gradually closed a big early gap and flashed through next to the rail in the last quarter with unexpected speed and stamina and was much the best. Puss in Boots beat the barrier and made the most of her advantage, appeared like holding the field safe until in the last furlong, where she tired badly. J. H. Bennett ran a phenomenally improved race for him and is difficult to guess Oro Viva was always outrun. Gibraltar went well. Alice Cary was nearly left and made no effort to improve her position. J. Boggs ran badly and can do better. Keogh got away in his stride, was waited with in front and came away fast when straightened for the wire and ran in game improving form. Sacredus, clumsy and slow at the start, fell out of contention early, but was closing up with a whirlwind rush and was evidently best. Military Man, away flatfooted and in close quarters next to the rail, went around the field on the turn and finished fast under weak handling. Throw his race out. Dr. Rowell was going well in the last quarter. Planet essayed to force the pace and retired after going a fast quarter. Keogh, show, 7 to 10. Sacredus, show, 2 to 5. Winner B. c, by Tacoma Lady Lucas trained by C. W. Chappell. Went to post at 3:00. At post 1 minute. Start good. Won driving; second easily. Tufts ran a surprisingly good race in spite of the fast early pace. He was well up in the first part of the race and moved up fast on the far turn, taking a winning lead when a furlong out. Blessed Damozel, excessively used in following the fast pace too closely, lost ground by a wide stretch turn and finished out a long stretch drive gamely. Expedient was whipped into prominent contention at the end of nine furlongs and then unexpectedly failed to stay. Tom Slavin evidently likes a route, forced the fast running for the first mile and sustained his speed unexpectedly well. Star Cotton retired after going a good mile and was crowded and messed about in the last quarter. Rosarie went well. Overweights Rosarie. 2 pounds. Tufts, show, evens. Blessed Damozel, show, 2 to 5. Start good. Won driving; second the same Dainty was lucky at the start and skillfully reserved to the stretch, where she made good after sustaining a desperate drive. Grafter was always prominent and came through next to the rail at the end, but was crowded in the last sixteenth and was best. Bill Massie suddenly improved, essayed to make a runaway race of it and nearly succeeded, displayed his old time form and ran a fast and game race. The Fretter unexpectedly fell away in the last quarter and was badly ridden. Searcher is improving and due in a long race among slower ones. Water Cure was well in hand for seven furlongs, but failed to stay. John Lemmons was crowded at the half and easing up in the last quarter. Overweights Bill Massie, 2 pounds. Dainty, show, 2 to 5. Antolee, suddenly improved, waited within striking distance and ran past the leaders in the last quarter, winning under mild restraint. Illowaho practically forced the pace for seven furlongs, is in good form and ran a fast game race. Golden Light got up at the end under a vigorous ride after trailing for six furlongs. Jockey Club followed the winners pace closely from the start was easilv second best and put up a game fight at the end. Fort Wayne, in spite of the discourasr ingly fast early pace, was always a prominent contender and finished unexpectedly well Glendenning was always outrun and did not display his true form.
