Vigoroso, lucky and with clear sailing, proved the best stayer in a long stretch drive. Rol-taire forced the pace throughout and ran in improved form. Billy Moore ran prominently, but tired in the last furlong. Teufel worked a rough journey, but was swerving all over the stretch. The Hoodoo, jiearly left, closed a great gap. Ed Lilburn was pulled out of contention early and was only cantering at the end, four mile tactics working disastrously1 He was much the best and his race is under investigation. Sharp Bird developed speed and stamina suddenly. Impetuous was in close quarters in the middle half and pocketed next to the rail at the end. Loyal S. was crowded back early and closed up much ground in the last half. Clivoso quit in the last quarter. Montezuma, fresh and good, worked his way into a contending position after overcoming costly early interference and closing up fast got up in the last stride. Pat Oran ran well and maintained a good position throughout. Nullah was crowded early and pocketed in the stretch, but came again right at the end after having apparently fell out of it. Cherries loomed up strong when a sixteenth out. Bell Reed will improve greatly on this race Cnri-lee failed to stay. Hercules is a quarter horse.
