The two favorites were ly left at the post. Vassalo closed up a tremendous gap from a very bad send-off and best. Halmetta has been doing well of late and showed improvement, but was repeat-interfered with. Bob Palmer failed to stay after going a good six furlongs. Hutch ir was practically left and made up twenty lengths. Headstrong ran in improyed form. Overweights — Autumn Time, 5 pounds; Donu, 3; Haralamb, 3. The Fiddler, show, 8 to 1. Vassalo, show, 4 to 5. Libbie Candid received a good start and fell in behind the pacemakers to the stretch, where she drew clear and won going away fast. Samar practically forced the pace from the start and held on gamely. Wiggins n. tired right at the end after losing much ground by a wide stretch turn and can do better. Ethel Abbott is greatly improved, got away badly and closed a big gap. Crigli does not stay. Sextette was badly messed about and received a poor start. Libbie Candid, show, 6 to 5. Americano, much improved, indulged St. Winifride with the lead to the stretch, where he went past her as if she was anchored and seemed to be only cantering, but was suddenly put to a mild drive to beat the badly ridden Headwater. The latter went wide on the stretch turn and then swerved under the whip over the rail, but finished like a whirlwind St. Winifride displayed her well known early speed, but failed to stay. Ragnarok H ran prominently. Bragg is improving and closed a gap in the last quarter. Vonzollern is a quitter. Ada N. was swerving badly, but closed up like a whirlwind at the end. Tizona was interfered with on the stretch turn and in close quarters but finished well through the last furlong. Missile, away badly, closed a big gap and ran in suddenly improved form. Harry Thatcher went well. Tufts wants a longer race and finished going fast. Som-enos received a lucky and skillful ride and finished fast. Alta G. was crowded back early and closed a tremendous gap. Pat Morrissey ran in suddenly improved form. Clivoso retained his speed unexpectedly well. Shellmount, away poorly and overweighted, closed up fast at the end. Bassenzo ran a bad race. J. H. Bennett quit suddenly when he appeared like winning. Milas, lucky and skillfully placed, was fast wearing the winner down at the end and was probably best. Albert Enright failed to stay after forcing the pace for six furlongs. Gawaine is worth remembering. Tom Slavin was badly ridden and overweighted. Dark Secret closed a big gap from a bad start.
