Honeybrooks race was a decided disappointment. Russellton ran a good race from a bad start. Brown Vail also got away poorly. Sabinal will do to watch. Prima II. looks badly and seems to be of no present account. Scratched— 38556 Kingful, 108; 38617 Anti Trust, 108; 38465 Cursus, 93. Overweights — Escanaba, 2 pounds. Mike Strauss, show, evens. Hie Away came with a tremendous burst of speed at the finish and overhauled the fast tiring leaders just in time to win by the narrowest of margins. Loca had no mishaps and was used too much in chasing Silver Fringe. The latter showed great speed, but quit at the end as usual. Broodier ran in improved form. Zirl got away poorly and exhibited no great speed at any stage of the contest. Scratched— 38621 Madam, 106; 38G78 Fickle Saint, 101. Overweights — John IL, 4J pounds; Glendon, 2. Winner — Br. h, by Autocrat — Miss Longford trained by T. A. Gay. Went to post at 3:20. At post 1 minute. Start good. Won easily; second driving. Maltster was the best horse as the race was run. Higgins avoided the early pace with him and had a fresh horse under him to challenge the tired pacemakers with at the finish. Father Wentker showed his usual speed and ran his race. Bridge, a natural free- runner, was restrained and choked too much and Dean evidently made a mistake in trying to place him. Travers can do better. On the Quiet finished well. Maltster, show, 4 to 5. Bridwell rated the mare along beautifully and she was going away from her field at the end. Ledaea ran a good race and was also well handled. Bank Street should have been second, but was cut off and lost several lengths at the three-eighths post the second time around. Irving Mayor ran to his mark. Charles D. was sore and lame. Tammany Chief broke down. Scratched— 38618 Luna Minor, 101. Compass, show, 4 to 5. Ledaea, show, 2 to 1. Bank Street, show, 2 to 5. Charles D., show, 1 to 2. Boaster was best. Romanelli rode a waiting race and when he turned Boaster loose in the stretch the horse came like a steam engine. Albert F. Dewey did his best and ran to the mark. Chamblee suffered from weak handling. Wood was seized with stage fright when he saw Boaster coming, turned Chamblees head loose airtl went to the whip. The horse then swerved badly. Bengal was tiring and all out at the end. Scratched— 3SG82 W. B. Gates, 103; 38681 Atheola, 97; 38559 Sigmund, 9G; 38G52 Judge Cantrill, 88. Boaster, show, 3 to 5. Albert F. Dewey, show, 1 to 2.
