The first three got away together and the other two were practically left. E. C- Runte raced in close attendance on the early pacemaker, Sir Walt, and came away as if the latter was anchored when they struck the level stretch. Sir Walt made the most of his good start and held on In somewhat improved form. Gananogue, which had swerved in behincljthe-sec-ond horse near the end, finished with speed unexpected. Ballycastle would have had very small chance even with a fair start as his rider could not get him to extend himself at any part of the journey. Lady Badge trailed along many lengths in the rear. Judge Fulton ran a good race and also stuck to his work in the last furlong with improved stamina. Pittacus went well throughout. Petit Bleu came from a long way back in the last furlong, but swerved over to the rail under a weak whipping finish. Pipe landed close up and was going fast at the end. Royal Pirate, when capably ridden, will some day score brackets. Valley Forge fell away after half the journey had been run. Scratched— 39168Ella Snyder, 101. Carrier Pigeon, except when he momentarily relinquished his lead while coming down the long hill the last time, practically made the running throughout and was going away at the end with plenty in reserve. May Harrison is not handy at the cross-country game. She showed plenty of speed on the fiat and took the jumps willingly, but pecked at every one, losing much ground. Tankard raced with the lead well in hand at the end of a mile and a half, then suddenly retired. Sergeant, much the best, was shuffled back to last on the backstretch, but secured a lucky opening next to the rail in the last quarter, which he finished out with a tremendous rush. Lux Casta again came at the very end with her usual rare burst of speed, running a remarkable race after being crowded on the stretch turn and compelled to turn on the outside of the field New York forced the pace for six furlongs and when called on in the stretch drew into a clear lead, but did not stay so well today. Lady Uncas did not figure as prominently in the early running as heretofore. Himself, however, was a prominent contender for six furlongs and developed plenty of early speed today. Rosetints last race over a dis-ance of ground with big weight up evidently took the edge off her speed. She went well for six furlongs and tired and was eased up at the end. Ajmes d received a bad ride and went wide on all the turns, and with her head turned loose with Haack whipping she swerved across the stretch, but finished with extreme gameness and won drawing away. Torchlight was skillfully handled, wore the leaders down in the firt furlon" of the straight and was winning, but Burns was probably caught napping at the pnd Ella Snyder got away slowly, but worked into a contending position in the first quar-tpr and stood a long stretch drive gamely. Zoroaster was reserved until the field was straightened for home and wore down The Carm-PlitP I after a well sustained drive of nearly three furlongs. The Carmelite, away badly, raced into a lg early lead, and this trying effort up the hill beat him as he was the best at the 5 Shtq nnfl but for Larson nearly falling off would have won on his own courage when chaflSngee I by Zoroaste [ City Bank, which had trailed his field for the first mile finished 1 verv fast and is a good horse. Dr. Saylor runs a, good race every time he starts but is al-wovs I uo against better class horses. Circus requires a vigorous rider.
