Dunne. Went to post at 2:30. At post 5 minutes. Start fair for all but George R. Harrison and Ralph Young, who had no chance after the barrier went up. Won in a canter; second easily. Tryon moved up fast running toward the inside rail in the last eighth and was going away rapidly in the closing strides. Sol Smith tired fast when challenged by the winner. Falkland came with a rush at the end after making up ground in the last quarter. Touchstone showed speed, but fell away beaten opposite the paddock gate. Hindilene had enough turning into thp .stretch. The race was run in a rain storm and it was difflcult to see the colors. Scratched— 39163 Miss Hortense, 107. Lord Melbourne easily disposed of Chief Aloha turning for home and held the field safe all through the stretch. Blue Miracle finished fast nipping Mr. Dingle on the post for second place. The latter closed up ground fast in the last quarter, but hung slightly in the closing strides. Chief Aloha showed speed, but fell away beaten turning into the stretch. Lampoon tired very fast opposite the paddock gate. Fullback showed some early speed. Lord Melbourne, show, 6 to 5. Blue Miracle, show, 6 to 1. Mr. Dingle, show, S to 5. Lampoon, show, 1 to 4. The latter stood a long stretch drive, but could not quite get up. Myth tired fast in the last sixteenth. Bud Embry made a fast move turning for home, but retired a furlong out. I. Samelson showed a little early speed. Nellie Forest had early speed, but ran as if short. Scratched— 391GG Peat, 107. Moroni, show, 4 to 5. Merops, show, 2 to 1. Myth, show, 8 to 5. The latter was under a hard drive all through the stretch and Ineffectually attempted to reach the winner. Goldaga tired rapidly in the last eighth. Meehanus closed up fast on Goldaga and would have been third in a few more strides. Fake crossed his legs and fell just after the start. Scratched— 39047 Alfred C, 111; 39166 Bonnie Lissak, 109. Firbane showed much speed, but began to tire a sixteenth out, when running next to the inside rail. General Stewart finished going fast under punishment. Play Ball fell away beaten when a furlong out. Capitol appeared unable to extend himself freely in the going. Overweights — Firbane, 4 pounds. Sweetie, show, out. Firbane, show, 7 to 10. The latter showed much speed, but tired fast when challenged T y the winner. Bronze Wing outstayed Trinity Bell in the last sixteenth struggle.
