Won easily; second handily. Ralph Young displayed the most speed throughout and never left the result in doubt. Lady Free Knight made up ground and finished going fast. She met with some interference in the first quarter, but moved up quickly when she got clear sailing. Banwell ran a winning race. He was cut out of position at the start and made up much, ground in the final quarter running past horses fast in the closing strides. George R. Harrison faltered just a shade in the final sixteenth, but ran in improved form and bears watching. Owasca tired fast when the pinch came. Miss Mollie cut across Riceful just after the barrier went up, causing the latter to lurch to her knees unseating jockey Gray. Overweights — Pontchartrain, 2 J pounds; Riceful, 3. High Carnival saved ground by being taken next to the inside rail when turning for home and stood a long drive gamely just lasting long enough. Prodigal Son began slowly, but made up ground fast in the last quarter, finished with a rush and would have won in another stride. Enue showed speed, but faltered in the closing strides under a weak ride. Examiner came with a rush at the end. The Don showed some early speed, but appears to be of little present account. Egg Nogg tired fast just after entering the last quarter. Corrected weights — High Carnival, 101. Overweights — Galathee, 1 pound; The Don, 2; Examiner, 4 J. High Carnival, show, 3 to 1. Start fair for all but Prince Webb, which was left at the post. Won driving; second easily. Loone was under a hard drive all through the last eighth and outstayed Haviland. Domlnick placed Haviland carefully in the first seven furlongs and made a determined effort in the closing strides, but Haviland was not quite good enough. Montana Peeress showed much speed, but tired fast in the final sixteenth. Milas faltered palpably when the pinch came. Alfred C. could not concede the weight. Moroni was never a serious contender. Talpa, off poorly, gradually worked her way to the front and appeared to be winning easily when a furlong out, but had to be hustled out in the closing strides. Jack Rattlin finished going fast under keen pressure after making up ground in the final quarter. Warte Nicht stood a long stretch drive and finished resolutely. Headwater was a keen contender for six and a half furlongs and ran to his best form. Thane showed little early speed. Charley Thompson swung wide when turning for home, losing ground. Peter J. showed speed for five furlongs. Scratched— 39504 Serge, 96; 39142Autumn Leaves, 105. Overweights — Peter J., 1 pound. Talpa, show, 1 to 2. Jack Rattlin, show, 2 to 5. Handsome Florry ran in improved form, Showed a fine turn of speed and held the field safe all through the last quarter. Determination came with a rush at the end, nipping Ida Davis on the post. The latter tired slightly When the pinch came, but at that ran to s her best Jform. Dorice was right there up to the last one hundred yards and bears watching ,Ntfrom how on. Corbett and Myth, in the final sixteenth, but had to be hustled out at the end to stall off Goldagas challenge. The latter made up ground and came with a rush at" the end. Myth ran well, but tired fast in the last sixteenth. Leo Newell was knocked out of his stride at the start, losing many lengths. He made up much ground in the last half mile, but had little left to finish with. He was probably best. Harney rallied in the final eighth and finished going fast. James J. Corbett had enough when opposite the last eighth post. Senator Matts showed speed for six furlongs. Scratched— 39095 Ermack, 97. Overweights — Merops, 2 pounds; Ida V., 3§. Bluemint, show, evens. Goldaga, show, evens. Myth, show, 8 to 5. Leo Newell, show, 4 to 5.
