Eugenie B. was very speedy and had little trouble in passing Hindilene when turning for home, winning as her rider pleased. Allista finished going fast and was best of the others. Croppie ran in improved form, but tired slightly in the closing strides. Interrogation was well beaten when entering the final eighth. Hindilene showed early speed, but is fainthearted. Flying Ship showed much speed, but tired when challenged by the winner. Jim Clark came with a belated rush at the end. Paul Whaley ran well for six and a half furlongs. McChesney began to move up fast just before turning for home and had reached Sam Fullen when a furlong out. From here to the wire he easily held Sam Fullen safe, winning as his rider pleased. The latter ran to his best form, met with no mishaps and was best of the others. Hermencia began slowly, but made up ground fast in the last half and finished going fast. Hoodwink ran an impressive race, but tired somewhat when the pinch came. Prosper La Gai showed keen speed for seven and a half furlongs, but tired fast just before reaching the final eighth. Favonius ceased to be a serious contender after six furlongs had been run. Rolling Boer was crowded, out of position when the barrier went up and had no chance thereafter. Monarka easily wore down Dr. Stephens in the final eighth and had plenty in reserve to stall off Au Revoirs determined bid in the final hundred yards. The latter came with a rush at the end under a strong ride. Dr. Stephens showed much speed, but faltered when the final drive came. Lucien Appleby was under a hard drive all through the last quarter and finished resolutely. Warte Nicht, as usual, showed speed, but was well beaten when turning into the final quarter. Wainamoinen ran well for seven furlongs. Thane ceased to be a serious contender after six furlongs had been run. The time made is a new record.
