Blumenthal assumed an early command and displaying much speed throughout, was never in serious trouble, winning much as his rider pleased. Dungannon met with much early interference and did not get clear sailing until just after turning for home, where he closed up ground rapidly and finished going fast. Martius showed much speed, but tired" fast when a sixteenth out. Instructor ran a good race and will bear watching hereafter. Bery Wad-dell ran to his best form. Oudon was a keen contender for four furlongs and then fell away beaten. The others were never serious contenders. Scratched — 10030 Peter J. Bard of Avon showed sudden improvement, displayed much speed and responded gamely under punishment. He fouled Major Tenny turning for home and then carried him from the center of the track to inside rail in the last sixteenth, for which he was promptly disqualified. Major Tenny began slowly, but moved up fast in the final half and but for the interference would undoubtedly have won. Kilmorie also suffered from Bard of Avons zigzagging, but even at that finished resolutely. Carat tired fast after turning for home. Miracle II. was thoroughly beaten turning for home. Marcos ran out at the head of the stretch and was pulled up. Overweights — Slap Dash, 1* pounds. Major Tenny. show, out. Kilmorie, show, 2 to 5. Carat, show, 1 to 3. The latter was pocketed just before turning for home, but made up ground fast when straightened out for the wire and finished with a rush. Batts showed sudden improvement, stood a long stretch drive with gameness and ran an excellent race, tiring only in the closing strides. Silk Maid was done for when a furlong from home. Fred Leppert ceased to be a serious contender just after entering the last quarter. Proceeds appears to run to his best form only on a soft or muddy track. Peter J. Somers showed some early speed. Monsieur Beaucaire hung badly all through the last sixteenth. Hargis finished with resolution. Louisville was a keen contender for seven furlongs. Nitrate ran a dull race and was never in the hunt. Henry Burt saved ground by being taken next to the inside rail when turning for home and, standing a long stretch drive well, finished gamely. Glendale showed much speed, faltered when a furlong out, then rallied suddenly and finished going fast. The Giver came with a. rush at the-end, getting up in time to nip Wainamoinen on the post for third money. The latter faltered just a shade in the closing strides. Scorpio made up ground in the last quarter and finished well. Bluemint ran a good race and was easily best of the others. Fading Light tired badly all through the final sixteenth and Wilson for a moment lost control of her. Marlin ran well for six furlongs.
