Start good. Won handily; second easily. Mrs. Frank Foster and Shrine had the race all to themselves and fought it out closely all the way. Both swung wide coming into the stretch, the former losing most ground in the run home and Mrs. Frank Foster outgamed Shrine. The latter ran well, but is not partial to heavy going. Easy Trade caught Hopedale tiring in the stretch run. The latter was used up in chasing the first two. Scratched— 39530Basuto, 114; 40197Ice Water, 107; 39960 Cranesville, 103. Lyrist was cut off just after the start, but she worked her way through the field while rounding the far turn, wore down the leaders In the stretch and won under pressure. Miss Fleischmann and Maud Johnson had a tight struggle for the place, the former getting the verdict in the very last stride. Maud Johnson did her best. Ericula was always outrun. Iole began slowly. Butter Scotch was well handled, waiting on Flaneur until on the turn for home where Munro called on her and she came away in the last furlong without much effort. Flaneur had to be driven to the limit to save second place from Firing Line. The latter eame very fast in the last sixteenth. Baird showed early speed, but quit. Daly took back with Claude right after the start and rated him along until after a mile was passed. He then began to make his move and went after Sir Gallant, racing the latter into submission while going around the far turn. The contest then narrowed down to Reservation and Claude. Claude was well in hand at the finish, but under a mild drive. Munro was working hard on Reservation all through the last quarter and driving him to the limit. Sir Gallant began to tire after going seven and a half furlongs. At that he ran a good race and displayed a lot of early speed. Soothsayer and All Souls were never contenders. Nuptial was favored by the going, showed the most speed and came away easing up Little Boy ran well and was easily the best of the others. Similar began slowly, but finished fast. Euclaire did not like the going. Tom Kingsley ran badly. His showing was too noor to be true.
