John Coulter was well rated, wore down Barkelmore and came away in the stretch without much effort Olonetz lost ground on the turn for home, but finished fast and outgamed Barkelmore in the final drive. The latter showed speed, but tired at the end. Fleuron finished fast Herodes showed early speed, but tired. Rathgar quit badly in the stretch run. Sister Lillian, outrun in the first part of the race, came with a rush in the homestretch and caught Lady Matchless tiring. The latter ran to her best form. Mint Bed appeared the winner when turning into the stretch, but tired in the last furlong. Mosketo and Choice showed early speed. Boland was brushed off Briers in a jam at the start, which affected the chances of several horses. Briers ran away four miles and jockey Colvin was suspended for ten days for foul riding. Bar-dolph was under restraint for the first half mile, made his move while rounding the turn into the homestretch, shook off Redan and Dan McKenna in the last furlong, but had to be hard ridden at the end to stall off Tarn oShanter. The latter avoided the early fast pace and came with a rush at the end, after coming wide into the homestretch. Dan McKenna was tiring and had to do his best at the end to stand off Collonades rush. He had all the worst of the" weights and ran a good race under the circumstances. Collonade finished fast. Redan was eased up in the last hundred yards after showing the way to the stretch at a fast clip. Determination was in a pocket for the first quarter and had to go around the leaders on the outside and came wide into the homestretch, but finished fast through the stretch and was going away at the end. Rainland was bumped into at the start, but finished very fast and just managed to get up in time to beat out Armorer. The latter was much used in chasing Allista, but hung on gamely. Allista showed a good turn of early speed, but tired in the stretch drive. J. P. Mayberry ran well to the stretch. Cheboygan made up much ground from a poor sendoff. Bud Embry was much used in chasing Chanterelle and Grand Mary and tired when the pinch came. Chanterelle quit badly after showing the most speed to the stretch. Grand Mary showed speed.
