Race King ran in a good position to the stretch turn, where he readily went to the front and was well in hand at the end. He has been steadily improving and is in good form at present. Oriskany ran in much improved form and held on well all the way. Reliance broke slowly and was in close quaiters throughout and did not get clear sailing until too late, but finished very fast. Pol Roger tired badly in the final sixteenth. Jasper broke first and showed speed, but could not last out and was eased up at the end. Scratched 425S4 Trossachs, 99. Corrected weights Reliance, 110. Start good. Won easily; second the same. Unmasked is a high-class selling plater and is in rare form at present, outbroke his company, forced the pace all the way and easily shook the others off on the stretch bend. Lady Potentate ran a good race. Pinched out on the backstretch, she came around her field on the stretch turn and made a determined effort, was under the whip for the last quarter, but could not get up. All Gold was gaining at the end. but his race was not up to the form he has shown recently. Past showed speed and held cn well for six furlongs, when she tired. Lord Advocate was scant of speed. Sweet Alice ran in a good position to the stretch turn, where she closed up gamely under a drive, caught Irene Lindsey tiring and outgamed her in the run to the finish, just getting up in the last stride. Irene Lindsey showed her usual speed, but was made too much use of and had nothing left to finish with when strongly challenged. King Pepper is improving, showed far more speed than he has in recent races and hung on well. The weight was too much for Monograph and he was outrun throughout, but finished gamely and would have been third in another couple of strides. Young Henry was deficient in speed, was never dangerous and was eased up in the last fifty yards. Scratched 42588 Highlander, 118; 42630Demurrer, 108; 42662 Elsie L., 105; 426G6G. River Pirate gave away much weight to his company, was under restraint for the first six furlongs, easily caught Demurrer when called on and won eased up. Tribes- Hill lacked early speed, but came fast when straightened out in the stretch and finished gamely. Brigand ran his race and has been overrated. Demurrer is purely a sprinter, showed much early speed, but lacks gameness and quit when caught. Circus is of no present account. Robin Hood is a good gelding, broke fast from the barrier, showed a good order of speed and hung on well in the stretch under a drive. This race should improve him. Rob Roy ran to his best form and finished resolutely. Belle of Portland showed speed and nade a determined effort in the stretch, but could not get up. Yellow Hammer met with some interference on the turns and came fast in the stretch under the whip, but tired in the last fifty yards. Gold Breaker and Mohican made up a lot of ground. .Mr. Pickwick weakened in the final furlong. Dutiful got off poorly. Monitor ran well for over a half mile. At post 4 minutes. Start good. Won driving; second easily. Mamie Worth is a good filly and ran a fine race, forced a fast pace throughout and saved ground on the stretch turn and that won for her, as she was tiring at the end and only just lasted long enough. Buttons was probably best at the weights and should have won, but tried to run out at the stretch turn, then came fast in the stretch run and was in front a stride beyond the finish. Satire, fiatfooted at the start, made up a lot of ground and finished fast. Meistersinger ran poorly. Sam Craig showed speed and ran a good race for seven furlongs and is worth remembering in poorer company.
