Wild Pirate showed plenty of speed today, raced All Gold into submission, drew away on the stretch turn and had plenty in hand at the end. Hoodwink showed improvement. In a good position to the last quarter, she! finished gamely under a drive. All Gold tired from early racing and barely lasted long enough to secure third place. Stonewall was under pressure all of the last half, but he could not get up. Satire ran closer up than usual all the way, but there was too much speed in the race for him. Overweights Satire, 1 pound. Reticent has been steadily improving and ran a good race, moved up when turning into the stretch and readily went to the front, under a hand ride, but was all out and doing his best at the end. Pol Roger is speedy, but he does not seem to be able to stay, forced the fast pace from which he tired badly. Reliance was pinched out cn the bapkstretch, but came around the field on the turn and, finishing fast, would have been second in a few more strides. Crown Prince displayed his usual speed, but tired under the weight and swerved in the final drive when cut with the whip. Sais tired after going a half mile. Sheriff Bell ran a good, game race and was capably handled throughout, raced Monograph into submission and had enough left to stall off Carbuncle in the final furlong. The latter was the best horse and should have won, but Fuller outrode Redfern in the final drive. Ethics came around the field on the stretch turn, was under a drive in the stretch run. was slowly gaining and his race was a good one. Lady Potentate had no mishaps, ran in a good position all the way and tired in the final quarter.
