Captivate, an improved mare, was seriously interfered with at the start, but quickly recovered her stride and raced into the lead, drawing away decisively in the last half and coming home alone. Man of Honor, off none too well, steadily improved his position, finishing with a rush. Saintly, on the inside and prominent throughout, tired at the end as if short. Toto Gratiot was favored by the going and went well. Grand Sachem held a forward position for five furlongs. El Piloto seemed unable to raise a respectable gallop. Stirling Towers showed early speed. t Scratched-386033Redwald, 102; 3S331 Canejo, 105. Captivate, show, evens. Man of Honor, show, S to 5. Saintly, show, evens. El Piloto, show, 1 to 2. Went to post at 2:33. At post 3 minutes. Start straggling. Won easily; second the same. Don Domo far outclassed the field, was off as quick as a flash and after indulging H. L. Frank with a brief lead on the far turn cantered into the lead again and finished pulling up in the stretch. Padua, a coming good one, still high in flesh and somewhat sluggish in the early running, fell away on the far turn but came again in game fashion in the closing drive and will be hard to beat from now on. Sailor Knot was outrun up the backstretch. but picked the best going and turned wide for home, putting up a good stretch run. Sol Smith, nearly left, closed an immense gap, a remarkable performance for a colt whose races on a fast track have been extremely moderate. Military Man was beaten off after a brief early display of speed. H. L. Frank, evidently short, showed an amazing turn of speed n taking the lead in the first quarter, tiring at the end and was eased up. Don Domo, show, 1 to 5. Padua, show, 2 to 5. Galanthus, lucky and particularly favored by the sloppy going, followed Rollick closely to the stretch, leading into the backstretch, but tiring suddenly right at the end, just getting home. Miracle II. moved up fast when turning for home, finished with a rush and was fast wearing the winner down. Anvil, poorly handled, showed surprisingly good form and was a prominent contender throughout. Arthur Ray, away badly, closed a big gap and then failed to stay. Prince Blazes fell away in the early running and then commenced to pass horses in the stretch. Rollick, after having made the running for five furlongs, failed to stay and was evidently short. Bard Burns was prominent to the stretch turn. Meehanus went poorly today, could never get up into serious contention and quit all over at the end. Eonic ran to her best form. Lucky at the start she trailed Schwalbe closely to the stretch, where she moved up like a flash into a sudden and unexpected, lead, handily holding her own to the end. Schwalbe got away running and led for seven furlongs, with plenty in hand and apparently a sure winner, but when straightened for home tired suddenly and then came again in the closing strides. Kenilworth got away slowly and running on the inside throughout had a rough journey to the stretch, where he saved third place after a long and game drive. Ben Mac Dhui was a prominent contender for seven furlongs and ran like an improved horse. Warte Nicht, nearly left, closed a tremendous gap. Albula made up fifteen lengths after getting away very badly. Jack Demund failed to stay. Horatius gained In the stretch. Horton, a slow beginner, had no chance in the big field. Claude closed up a lot of groind during the. first six furlongs and then finished puling up in the stretch. He ,fci .....- . . . . . .. ..v - - - igggSB!"" 1 ,"UK could have been closer up. Burnie Bunton trailed the early leaders closely to the stretch, where she flashed into the lead on the inside and won going away. Albemarle, away badly, came fast from a long wav back at the end. Martinmas was excessively used in racing with John A. Scott, which carried him wide, and showed a lot of gameness in the final drive. John A. Scott, evidentlv short, made the running for nearly seven furlongs and tired suddenly midway of the homestretch. Epicure, on the inside and interfered with repeatedly, finished fast and can do better. Mildred Schultz was knocked back at the half and then came again and was forced to pull up when a furlong out. Lord Melbourne, always forward in the running, closed up fast in the stretch run. The Don ran into a long lead on the first turn and fell away badly after a brief struggle with the winner.
