Quiet broke flatfooted, but rapidly passed his field on the outside in dry going, taking a decisive winning lead at the half and retaining it to the end. Idogo, favored by the difficult going and lucky throughout, finished well under a vigorous ride. Madam Bishop held on gamely after running in close attendance on the winner almost throughout and was unlucky to lose second place. Matt Hogan was jostled back at the start and, being excessively urged to get on terms with the winner, when straightened for home tired badly and was swerving all over the course in the last sixteenth, was probably short and will reverse this running. Flourish was poorly handled and can do better. Scratched 42746 El Piloto, 109; 37258 Torila, 109. Overweights Idogo, 1 pound; Flourish, 5; Billy Taylor, 4. Quiet, show, evens. Idogo, show, 3 to 1. Winner Br. f, by Sain Jennie McFarland trained by W. Whalen. Went to post at 3:07. At post 3 minutes. Start straggling. Won driving; second easily. Dorice was favored by the going, showed in front on the far turn and held her advantage in a game drive to the end. Sol Smith came with a belated rush at the end and was rapidly wearing the winner down. Judge was a prominent contender for five furlongs, tiring somewhat in the closing drive. Felipe Lugo failed to stay after a superior display of speed and can do better. Captain Forsee got away poorly and ran up in a contending position with a remarkable burst of speed, tiring in the stretch run as if short. Young Pepper went a fast half and also lacked in condition. Keoghs work has been good and the soft track probably anchored him. Scratched Du Barry, 101. Overweights Young Pepper, 2 pounds. Dorice, show. 8 to 5. Sol Smith, show, 6 to 5. Judge, show, evens. Only relinquishing momentarily her lead on the turn, she drew to the front In the stretch run and finished with something in reserve. Lord Melbourne held on in second position throughout, tiring at the end after an exhausting effort to overhaul the winner. Erne, away poorly and improving his position throughout, finished like a cyclone. Galanthus tired. Mr. Dingle, as usual, ifell completely out of the early running, moving up in the last half and closing a big gap. Scratched 3S691 Harry Thatcher, 105; 42746 Iras, SG. Grail, show, 2 to 5. Glenarvon, much the best, is a useful colt and made his own running throughout, and finished pulled up. Pickaway was always the most prominent of the others and ran a good race. Albemarle was never dangerous and barely got up in the last stride for third place. Quartre moved up fast when turning for home and .finished in the worst going, tiring all over at the end and was evidently short. Bee Rosewater held a forward position for five furlongs. Ben Mac Dhui, in brilliant form and a vastly improved horse, indulged Bill Massie with the lead for the first furlong, then cantering into a long winning lead, came home alone. Bill Massie essayed to make the running, then fell into a comfortable second behind the winner and may have been short. Frank Woods, unable to stride freely in the going, after losing ground in the early running, commenced a fast stretch run and finished an easing up third. Diderots brief display of speed indicated that he lacks condition. Huntressa was very sore and unable to raise a respectable gallop. Scratched 4274GCaptivate, 100. Ben Mac Dhui, show, 1 to 10. Bill Massie, show, 1 to 3. Frank Woods, show, 2 to 1.
