Stirling Towers is greatly improved, won all the way and, finishing well in hand, was much the best. Marelio put up a fast and game race, finishing fast and gamely. Cherries unexpectedly made good in the closing drive, just getting up for third place. Rinaldo II. followed the winners fast pace closely, tiring in the stretch run. Chileno, poorly handled, clung on tenaciously to a rear position throughout, running far below his best form. Achilles and Red Tip both got away badly, but were gaining at the end. Parsifal is strictly a mudlark. Overweights Marelio, 1 pound; Rinaldo II., 1; Del Vista, 1. Stirling Towers, show, 3 to 1. Marelio, show, evens. Cherries, show, 8 to 5. Chileno, show, 1 to 2. Winner B. f, by Balgowan Gratitude, by Hyder Ali trained by G. Covington. Went to post at 2:36. At post 5 minutes. Start fair. Won easily; second driving. Eugenie B. ran in a forward position to the stretch, where she moved up and held her field safe in the last furlong. Targette finished fast and, improving her position in the last half, got up in the final stride for second place. Red Cross Nurse beat the barrier and made most of her advantage, but fell away in the stretch run. Anirad, in close quarters, finished fast when with clear sailing in the last furlong. Durbar, a slow beginner, held a rear position to the stretch turn, where she moved up fast, but went very wide, losing all chances. Miss Ringlets was going fast at the finish and can do better. Libbie Candid was short, but went a good three furlongs. Gottlieben ran away five furlongs at nearly top speed before the start. Scratched 3832S Floriana Belle, 100. Arabo appeared big and high and the race should fit him. He far outclassed his field and indulged The Don with the lead to the far turn, where he drew to the front, cantering home. Heather Honey came with a rush on the inside in the stretch run, but the winner always held him safe. Lacy Crawford trailed his field for six furlongs and put up a good stretch run. The Don, evidently a non-stayer, led on sufferance for nearly six furlongs and quit badly. Dotterel favors soft going and has grown and may develop into an improved filly. Albula ran in close attendance on the pacemaker, came through into a long winning lead at the stretch bend, was never bothered to hold his advantage to the end and won eased up. Kenilworth went badly in the betting, apparently no move was made with him at any stage and moreover he was taken hopelessly wide on all turns and finished an easy second. St. Winifride was far from keyed up, but sustained her superior speed well for five furlongs and will be heard from. Muresca held on in fourth place throughout and never got into serious contention. Scotsman looked like a cart horse, but his race was unexpectedly good. Albula, show, out. Kenilworth. show, out. St. Winifride, show, 3 to 2. 42 786 FIFTH RACE-6 1-2 Furlongs. San Nicholas, a high-class horse and very fit, got away running and spreadeagled his field, winning pulled up. The race was a procession. Rollick ran a good race and held second place safe throughout, but was tiring in the stretch run. Sugden, nearly left, closed a big gap, is better than ever and likes soft going. Redwald held a forward position throughout and ran a good race. Rey Dare got away poorly and was used up in the early running. Ledus was jostled back at the start and had no chance. Constellator was jerked up at different points in the race and Stuart rode as if he had lost his stirrup leathers. The horse was hard held from start to finish. Winner B. g, by Cavalier Empress of Norfolk trained by E. Getchell. Went to post at 4:25. At post 4 minutes. Start good. Won handily; second easily. Rovalty was crowded on the first turn, but gained rapidly while going up the backstretch and, coming on fast in the stretch run, won bearing out and going away. Illowaho, fresh and good, followed the pacemaker closely to the far turn, where he took the lead and, appeared a certain winner, but See was caught napping right at the end. Miracle 11., away poorly and carried wide and interfered with by the favorite on the first turn, improved his position steadily and when straightened for home loomed up dangerously, but tired and was swerving to the inside in the last sixteenth. C. B. Campbell was prominent for six furlongs. Prince Blazes, away in his stride, made the running for six furlongs before he tired. Jack Demund ran a very bad race and in spite of Halls vigorous efforts appeared a beaten horse early. Royalty, show, 7 to 10. Illowaho, show, 6 to 5. Miracle II., show, 7 to 10.
