Prince Salm Salm made a determined effort to get up in the stretch, but tired under a drive. Caqueta made up a lot of ground and is worth remembering. Mohican tired in the final furlong. Arthur ran a good race for five furlongs. Vibrator will improve over the race, showed speed and was eased up when beaten. Longspur made up ground from a poor start. Belle Claire finished fast after having been outrun to the stretch. Niskayuna quit badly after showing a lot of early speed. Grayling lacked in early speed, but was running fast at the end. Mountain Breeze got off running and tired after going a good quarter. The latter was best at the weights, ran a good race and would have won with a stronger rider. Stonewall lacked in early speed, but finished fast and his race was the best he has run in some time. Demurrer, as usual, showed the most early speed, but Paul Clifford wore him down in the stretch and won with plenty to spare. Demurrer did his best and was easily the best of the others. In a good position all the way, she went to the front on the backstretch and opened up a gap which the others could not overcome. Colonsay began slowly, but closed up a lot of ground under a drive and his race was a good one. Trepan held on weli at the end under punishment. It was too much weight for River Pirate. April Shower and The Major displayed early speed.
