Winner B. g, by Oddfellow Montgomery Cooper trained by R. Williams. Went to post at 2:14. At post 7 minutes. Start fair. Won easily; second driving. Buc-cleuth suffered from crowding at the start and had a very rough journey to the stretch, where he closed up with a rush on the inside and, saving ground, won going away. Thisbe made the running for six furlongs, went to the extreme outside when turning for home, which probably beat her and put up a game finish. Velma Clark followed the leader closely throughout in the deep going and, tiring slightly in the stretch, was probably short. Adirondack showed sudden improvement, always held a forward position and finished a good fourth. Shellmount loomed up well on the far turn and fell away in the final drive. Silver Fizz favors a longer race, looks good and fresh, is a slow beginner, lost ground early and closed a big gap. Blessed Damozel, a long distance runner, got. away badly. Egg Nogg and Sherry favor mud. Scratched J2971 Socialist, 105; 42971 Yellowstone, 103; 42873 Leash, 95. Overweights Velma Clark, 1 pound; Silver Fizz, 4. Buccleuth. show, 1 to 2. Won handily; second easily. F. E. Shaw broke flatfooted and, being in close quarters, nearly fell in the early running, but closed up again with superior speed on the outside and, although swerving all over the course, was much the best and is a fast colt. Ananias got away in his stride and forced the pace almost throughout and was only beaten out in the last few strides. Eugenie B. ran in close attendance on the leader to the stretch, where she was nearly thrown when the winner crossed over to the inside, but recovered in game fashion and ran a good race. Harbor, away very badly, closed a tremendous gap and ran a surprisingly good race. Silent Water tired in the stretch and may have been short. Wm. Parrish ran a steady race. Punctilio showed early speed. Overweights Eugenie B., 3 pounds; Silent Water, 2; Wm. Parrish, 2; Punctilio, 3; Miss Ringlets, 2; Dr. Birdsall, 2. F. E. Shaw, show, evens. Ananias, show, 3 to 5. Winner B. g, by Lord Dalmeny Faithless trained by H. S. Newman. Went to post at 3:08. At post 1 minute. Start good. Won driving; second easily. Bav Wonder practically forced the pace throughout and, being carried wide and nearly out of the course on the stretch turn, seemed beaten and then coming on again right at the end, won going away. Blissful raced the winner head and head and, boring out in the stretch, seriously interfering with both, they had to be much the best to finish in front of the others. Quartre. steadily improving her position, came through on the inside, closing up a lot of ground. Toto Gratiot, close upon the leaders and under a choking pull, failed to make good when called on. Marelio, on the inside cuppy footing and crowded on the far turn, ran a good race. Dotterel continued to fall out of the race after going the first quarter. Mee-hanus indulged El Oriente to the stretch, where he closed up fast and, under a vigorous and skillful ride, just got home. Billy Moore moved up with a rush on the far turn and, going wide, lost his chance of winning, then finished fast and was wearing the winner down it the end. Chub was badly handled and had a rough journey and finished gaining fast on the leaders, ran a superior race and will be heard from. El Oriente ran a good mile. I O. U., away very badly, closed a big gap and was a close up fifth, the best race in his career. Galanthus got away slowly and is not at his best on a dry track. Expedient made up a lot of ground in the last half and is a good long distance performer. Frank Woods is in bad form. Scratch ed-r42S91Greenock, 103. Overweights Meehanus, 1 pound: I. O. Honitcn, a superlative filly, probably the best in training, stripped big and high and far from keyed up, yet made the running at a record-breaking pace and although perceptibly tiring in the stretch run she easily shook off her only serious opponent at the end. Arabo ran a fast and game race, followed the terrific pace closely and well in hand to the stretch, where he moved up like a winner, but failed to sustain the pressure in the final drive Geheimniss finished a distant third, slightly easing up and is rounding to. Gorgalete showed improvement and will give a good account of herself later on. Reeves gave a surprising-display of speed in the early running. Honiton, show, out. Arabo, show. out. Proper trailed Beau Ormonde closely from the start and was in difficulties on the stretch turn, but stuck gamely to his work and finally wore the latter down at the end and won going away. Beau Ormonde made the running hard held to the stretch, where he came away and appeared a certain winner, then unexpectedly succumbed to Propers pertinacity Dupont held on in third position throughout and in the stretch run made up a tremendous lot of ground, ran a superior class race and is a stayer. Veterano was never dangerous and favors mud. Ink ran a poor race and can do better. Scratched 42974Lacy Crawford, 98. Overweights Dupont, 2 pounds. Proper, show, 1 to 5. Beau Ormonde, show, 1 to 6.
