Alice Cary. in close quarters in the early running, followed the winner closely and momentarily led on the stretch turn, but lost by going to the extreme outside, held on gamely in the stretch run and was best. Bee Rosewater got away poorly and made up a lot of ground. Madam Bishop, swerving badly under punishment and boring Into the fence, was taken up in the last sixteenth or she -would have been third. Puss in Boots, probably short, is a superior filly, broke flatfooted and after running up Into contention was again crowded back and from the half in closed a tremendous gap. Oro Viva tired in the closing drive after having rapidly improved his position in the early running. Cherries ran a steady race, but was hardly good enough. Rollick, away in the lead, forced the pace throughout and, under a tremendously vigorous finish, just got home after a gamely sustained effort. Quiet ran a fast early auar-ter to get up on terms with the winner and lapped him to the end, showing much improvement. Loyal S., away badly, closed a big gap and finished running faster than the leaders and ran the best race of his career. Albemarle was one of the trio of pacemakers and only fell away in the last fifty yards and was claimed by E. Tierney. The Don had a roueh journey, closing up a lot of ground in the stretch run and was claimed by H. Fossil, a superior class colt, particularly under light weight, was choked in behind the leaders in the early running and sent to the front at the half and maintained his advantage to the end. Divina, a slow beginner and badly messed about on the first turn, got into action with a phenomenal rush in the last sixteenth, where she finished going fastest of all, is a high-class mare and ran a grand race. Claude, one of the leaders for over six furlongs and appearing all over a winner when straightened for home, fell away right at the end and may have been short. He showed unusual early speed and looks bigger and better than ever, is in grand form and was caught napping for second place in the last stride. Albula. shuffled back on the first turn, went out and took up the running on the backstretch and held the lead to the far turn, where he began to tire. Beau Ormonde failed to stay and was ridden with bad judgment in an effort to place him. Eonic always held a forward position and finished fast, but is best in mud. Leader was never dangerous and can do better. Scratched 429753Ishtar, 93. Overweights Solon. 2 pounds. Fossil, show, 4 to 5. Divina, show, 4 to 5. Claude, show, evens. Cascine, a genuine crackerjack, got away in front and was reserved in close attendance on the pacemakers to the stretch, where he was sent to the front and won easing up. Otto Stifel made the running on sufferance for nearly five furlongs and put up a superior race, held on very gamely in the final drive and may develop into a good one. Don Domo again broke slowly, but quickly raced into prominence and straightened for home on terms with the winner, but failed to make good and was swerving all over the track at the end. Dargin ran a good, steady race in fourth place throughout and is worth remembering. Bearcatcher, which has developed a very bad temper while at the post, failed to get away and only cantered the journey. Scratched 42936 The Bugaboo, 100; 42936 Floriana Eelle. 97. The Fretter was lucky, had clear sailing and practically forced the pace after going the first quarter and, being lightly weighted, managed to last out the journey. Dodie S., trailing far in the rear of the early running, closed up with a tremendous rush in the stretch and would have won in another stride. Grail led under a pull for the first quarter and, being on the inside, was forced but of her position and, after being apparently beaten, came again with a rush in the last fifty yards and was best. Rosarie was a prominent contender throughout and only failed in the last half dozen strides. Position came from last place in the final six furlongs and finished running faster than the leaders. Expedient is" an other stayer that finished gaining fast.
