Goldsby was easily the best and has developed into a good hurdler, was rated in the first part of the race, but easily assumed command on the backstretch and won as his rider pleased. Imperialist ran well for nearly two miles, when he tired. He might have been closer to the winner at the end, but was eased up in the last few strides. Gould tired and quit after going two miles. Rightful did not show to advantage in his maiden effort. Cax-ton showed a fine burst of speed, but lost ground at the jumps, was ten lengths in front of his field in the first mile, then fell away. Caqueta finisheci gamely under the whip after having been outrun in the first part of the race. Tomcod showed far more speed than usual, but tired badly from chasing the winner. Oriskany tired badly. Totness has developed into a fair sort of a Ally, stood a hard drive to wear down Colleen Bawn in the final furlong and outgamed her in the last fifty yards. Colleen Bawn displayed far more speed than usual and forced a fast pace, but could not quite last. Lady Lavish ran a good race and was slowly gaining at the end. Briarthorpe closed up fast in the final furlong. Gananogue was crowded on the first turn and lost ground, which she could not make up. NIskayuna began slowly. M. Won easily; second driving Princelet ran in a good position to the stretch, where he came to the front with a rush and Feicht took no chances, but kept him going to the end. King B. was much used in racing with Russell Garth and tired in the final hundred yards. John Nevin closed up fast on the stretch turn and appeared a winner when straightened out, but tired under a drive. Labor made up a big gap. Russell Garth broke running, but could not last. Grantsdale finished very fast. Simon Kenton ran well for six furlongs. Scratched 43031 Squid, 95; 43031 Pipe, 95; Little Spark, 95. Cottage Maid broke running, showed much the most speed, was never in danger and had speed left at the end. Nine Spot came fast in the stretch when she got clear sailing. Unter-ock is a consistent filly and stood a long stretch drive to get up. The route was a trifle far for Oclawaha. Fortunatus was a sharp contender for seven furlongs, then tired. Cornwall lacked speed. Rough Rider broke slowly and apparently was not persevered with. Burns saving ground with him all the way, and obtained a winning advantage at the stretch turn, which he easily maintained. Lady Potentate was under a drive nearly all the way and ran in improved form. Flara ran a good race, but Miles used her up when racing around the turn out of the backstretch and she tired when straightened out in the stretch. Sweet Alice showed a good burst of speed, but bolted to the outside at the stretch bend and was eased up at the end. Scratched 43036Duke of Kendal. 103. Masterman, show, out.
