Won driving; second easily, j The Bugaboo, lucky and skillfully rated close in behind the leader and outstaying him in the stretch run, won going away and is an improving youngster. Et tu Brute made re- markably fast running for five furlongs before he succumbed and is evidently more than j useful. Pachucas reappearance after a long period of retirement was a promising effort. f He held on steadily in third position throughout and finished a fast going third, runs like a stayer and the race should fit him. Harbor was never dangerous and in a rear position from the start, but gained some in the last furlong. Waterspout tired badly in the last : quarter and is of ordinary caliber. Wm. Start straggling. Won easily: second the same. Jockey Club outclassed his field and is a superior class colt, indulged Albemarle and St. Winifride with a brief lead, going to the front before the half was reached and practically coming home alone. Albemarle, always a prominent contender, came away decisively from the others when straightened for home and ran a fast and game race. Tamra closed a big gap after getting away badly and runs like a useful stayer. Polbnius was only beaten out for third place in the last stride and ran an excellent race for his first essay in a long time. Egg Nogg got away well and ran a good, steady race. Clausus is above the average and ran as if short. This race should fit him and, on his merits, he was probably second best. St. Winifrides saddle girths broke early in the race and she was pulled up. Start good. Won easily; second driving. The Fog practically spreadeagled his field. Very unruly and bearing out on the turns, he finally swerved over to the inner rails, but won with plenty in reserve. Waterpower, suddenly improved, developed surprising speed and held on in second place within sti-iking distance throughout in spite of the terrific pace and See outrode the boy on Silent Water for second place. Silent Water, inadequently handled and pocketed in the last furlong, finished closing up very fast. Bay Wonder tired badly in the stretch run and ran a poor race. Winner B. f, by Racine Rose Bud, by Wildidle trained by C. W. Chappell. Went to post at 3:26. At post 2 minutes. Start good. Won driving; second easily. Rosarie emphasized her remarkably improved form by her fast and game effort today when she followed the terrific pace closely and, in a long drive home, decisively outstayed her field. Illowaho, also in good form, came through with a long sustained burst of speed on the inside when straightened for home and just failed to get up. Horton was compelled to come around with a wide turn in the last quarter and lost too much ground to ever get up and finished a fast going third. Kittie Kelly tired right at the end after "an overanxious effort to beat a fast non-stayer like Oscar Tolle and might have won but for that. Harry Beck was outpaced in the early running, but made up some ground at the close. Solon fell away after going a prominent seven furlongs and ran a poor race. Oscar Tolle ran well to the stretch. At post 6 minutes. Start straggling. Won driving; second the same. Redwald got away badly and suffered much interference in the early running, but moving up like a flash on the stretch turn under Bullmans vigorous finish, he got up and beat Constellator In the last stride. The latter broke in the rear, but with clear sailing quickly ran, into. the lead and appeared like the winner when beginning the final run and was probably unlucky to lose as the race was run. The Miller ran a surprisingly good race, was shuffled back at the start and closed up a tremendous gap in the last half and was I - 1 , j 4 4 o 3 , f , j j f : running faster than the leaders at the end. Schwarzwald was a prominent contender throughout and put up a fast and game effort. Cambaceres got away flatfooted and was passed by the entire field, but quickly recovered his ground and finished going fast. "Velma Clark was knocked out of the race on the far turn. Dolly Hayman showed surprising improvement, came along with a rush at the end and wore Beau Ormonde down in the final sixteenth, after holding on steadily a close up third from the start, evidently on her own courage and ran a high-class race from a time standpoint. Beau Ormonde, hard held, ran lapped on Epicure to the stretch turn, where he drew to the front and appeared to be leading by a safe margin when straightened for home, ran a fast, game race and had no mishaps. Epicure, probably not quite keyed up, tired slightly in the stretch run after forcing the pace, held on gamely in the closing drive like the good horse that he is and will reverse this running at an early day. Heather Honey, not quite good enough, followed well up and finished fast. Byron Rose ran a poor race and can do much better. Scratched 431 072Colonel "Van, 107. Dolly Hayman, show, 4 to 1.
