Constellator easily ran into the lead at the far turn and, thereafter coming home alone, was much the best. Dora I., on the inside and in the deep going, was outrun early but, closing up fast at the end, was second best. Bee Rosewater closed up rapidly on the last turn and appeared good for second place, but tired in the final drive. Evander essayed to make the running and after a brief display of early speed, fell away badly in the last quarter. Snark made up considerable ground after getting away poorly. Winner Ch. c, by St. George Trophy trained by T. G. Ferguson. Went to post at 2:31. At post 3 minutes. Start good. Won in a canter; second driving. Lord Wadsworth, away in the lead, won all the way without ever being extended and is evidently a superior class colt. Ebony, away poorly, steadily improved his position, finishing fast on the inside in the heavy tooting and ran a great race. Andrew B. Cook moved up fast when turning for home in an effort to overhaul the winner and tired slightly in the final drive and should improve. Waterspout followed Lord Wadsworth closely for half the distance, showed a fine burst of speed and held on gamely in the stretch run. T. J. Cox, still short and a good looker, ran forwardly for the first quarter: Dundreary, a big lumbering colt not nearly fit, ran a steady and improving race and is worth remembering. Potrero Grande is a good looker and will be heard from. Overweights Dundreary, 3 pounds; Potrero Grande, 1; Hogarth, 5. Lord Wadsworth, show, 1 to 2. Ebony, show, 1 to 2. Andrew B. At post 1 minute. Start good. Won handily; second driving. Cougar ran in astoundingly improved form, held on in second position for nearly a mile before he took up the running, being never headed afterward and winning with something in reserve. Veterano, always in the deep going, trailed to the backstretch, where he moved up fast and steadily improved his position. Dupont was evidently handicapped by the cupy going and did not run his race, always held a prominent position and seemed like winning when straightened for home, but unexpectedly tired in the closing drive. Allopath loomed up dangerously on the far turn, but failed to stay in the final drive. Past Master opened a wide gap on his field in the early runing and ran a surprisingly fast mile for him. Epicure trailed in closely behind the pacemaker, moving into the lead when straightened for home, but Sheehan, through riding an overconfident race, was nearly caught napping at the end. Ahumada, not quite keyed up for such a bruising race, ran lapped on the winner to the stretch turn, where he lost ground by coming wide, but began to make up ground fast in the closing drive and just failed to get up. Leader, handicapped by the track conditions, ran away back to the last quarter, where he closed up with a rush. Peter J. made the running for five furlongs before he retired and Is an extremelv fast horse that will hold his own with the best in sprint races. Scratched 42653 Daisy Green, 107. Won driving; second handily Royal Rogue got away slowly, but quickly raced into a contending position and held it to the stretch, where he came through on the inside and in a long and well sustained drive home, just got up to win under Burns most vigorous efforts. Beau Ormonde had no mishaps, but Bullman may have sent him to the front too early in the race, which, combined with an unnecessary wide stretch turn, beat him. He ran a fine race, but is an unlucky horse. Arabo trailed closely on the heels of the leaders and moved up fast after being straightened for home, tiring however, unexpectedly in the last few strides. Muresca forced the pace to the stretch where she fell away. Glennevis held a forward position for nearly six furlongs and ran a surprisingly good race. Whiskey King trailed his field closelv for three furlongs, then retired and can do much better. Overweights Glennevis, 3 pounds. Royal Rogue, show, out. Beau Ormonde, show, out. Start good. Won easily; second driving. Caronal trailed back in the ruck within striking distance to the stretch, where he closed up with a rush and won going away with a lot in reserve. Illowaho held a forward position from the start and at the end finished fast, just getting up in the last stride for second place. Forest King made a premature move on the backstretch to dispose of the non-staying pacemaker and ran into an apparently safe lead when turning for home, but tired badly at the end. Colonel Van. after getting away poorly, went around on the outside of the field into the lead in the first half and held sway for six furlongs, but failed to stay.
