The latter began slowly and had to go around the leaders to get up, but saved ground at the turn into the homestretch and was wearing the winner down at the end. Tommy Foster was driving to the limit at the end to beat Sid Silver. Minder took Sid Silver wide at the turn into the homestretch, but he came again at the end and would have been third in another stride. Tally H. raced through his field in the first quarter, but tired in the stretch and was eased up at the end. Lovable and Belle Mahone were crowded back at the start. The latter closed a big gap, finished with a rush and is worth remembering. Sidney Sabath saved ground at the turn into the homestretch and caught Calcutta tiring in the last furlong. Exapo ran well to the stretch and was hard ridden all the way. Royal Pirate got away with the leaders, but soon dropped out of effective contention. Airtight tired in the stretch after a stormy trip. Mary Moore showed early speed and was much used in chasing Ida Penzance, but hung on gamely when it came to a drive through the stretch. Johnson made his run too soon with Hay ward Hunter and when he moved up got him into a pocket. Crawford, on Siddons, made the same mistake. Ida Penzance tired after an early display of speed.
