Went to post at 2:05. At post 1 minute. Start good. Won driving; second the same. Stirling Towers, on the outside in dry going and away in her stride, held a small lead throughout and just lasted the journey. Sir Preston, always a sharp contender, was wearing her down at the end and ran in greatly improved form. Elfin King, away badly, closed a big gap and at the end was going fastest of all. Capable ran quickly into a contending position from a bad last and held on steadily in fifth place to the end, putting up a game finish. Yellowstone held a forward position from the start and finished close up. Bouton-niere was shuffled back at the start and closed up a lot of ground in the last half. Quartrel ran a poor race. Hilary favors sloppy going. Scratched 13223 Puss in Boots, 109. Stirling Towers, show, 2 to 1. Sir Preston, show, 6 to 1. Elfin King, show, 4 to 5. Quartre, show, 2 to 5. Mendon ran lapped on the pacemaker to the far turn, where he drew away with the favorite and, in a long and sustained drive, beat him home gamely and at the weights was best. Rockaway appeared like he could come away at will when turning for home, but finally succumbed to the winners superior speed and stamina in the final half furlong. Instructor showed brilliant speed and sustained it in improved style, due to the improved condition of the track and will make good shortly. Lord Wadsworth, away poorly, raced up into contention on the far turn, where he went very wide and feU away at the end. Solanus made a promising debut. Scratched 43224 Otto Stifel, 113. I Mistys Pride, on the outside and a quick breaker, led throughout and except for a brief instant, when shaken up to come away from Americano at the end, was never extended. Americano made a good showing under Bullmans vigorous ride, got away well and finished a feat going second. Pierce J. steadily improved his position, finishing with a rusti. Card- . . J , wellton tired after a vain effort to outrun the winner. Fort Wayne finished well. Futurita nearly left and inadequately handled, worked through a rough journey on her own courage, finishing like a whirlwind. Bummer warmed up sore and ran a poor race. Mistys Pride, show, 4 to 5. Constellator ran as if he outclassed the field and was always increasing his lead as the race progressed. Arthur Ray, a suddenly improved horse, closed up well in the stretch run and finished a lucky second. I. O. U. had a rough journey to the final sixteenth, where he came with a rush and would have been second in another stride. Foxy Grandpa held a prominent position throughout and ran a game race. Lunar was shuffled back at the half and closed a big gap. Elie, nearly left, made up a lot of ground. Cheny runs like a stayer and came from a long way back in the stretch run. Thank Haven failed to stay and probably favors mud. Prestolus was knocked out of it on the first turn. Scratched 132232Pat Morrissey, 105. Overweights Elie, 3 pounds; Prestolus, 1. Ada N., skillfully rated in the rear, suddenly moved up when turning for home and, finishing fa wore the leader down at the end. She is in great form and, being afflicted with c onic soreness, the soft going was particularly grateful. Diderot, fresh and good, forced e running from the start and seemingly had the field beaten, tiring only in the last fifty ards after a well sustained effort. Chorus Boy ran well up to the far turn and made good in the stretch run home, where he caught the choices tiring. Bill Massie fell away at the end after a sustained early effort to overhaul the pacemaker. Meehanus, nearly left, quickly raced into a close second in the first half and, being palpably short, tired in the closing drive. Illowaho is an uncertain quantity, showed plenty of speed and failed to stay. Scratched 13180 Colonel Van, 106. Ada N., show, 6 to 5. Diderot, show, 6 to 5. Chorus Boy, show, 2 to 1. Silver Fizz, lucky at the start, but carried wide on the first turn, closed up steadily from a rear position on the backstretch and, taking the outside good going, finished with a rush in the stretch. Frank Woods broke llatfooted and was quickly shuffled back, but made up ground rapidly in the middle half and in the lead when a sixteenth out, seemed like a Winner, but swerving into deep going at the end, tired and was unlucky to lose. Kittie Kelly was reserved to the half, where she took the lead and held it to the final sixteenth, where she tired. Blessed Damozel was anchored where the deep going in the backstretch and around the far turn prevailed and can do better on a fast track. Burdock showed surprising improvement in both speed and stamina. Prince Blazes is of little present account. Position was knocked out of the race at the start and never materially improved his position. Silver Fizz, show, 4 to 5. Frank Woods, show, 7 to 10. Kittie Kelly, show, 1 to 2. Position, show, 2 to 5.
