Louis Wagner decisively outpaced and outstayed his field, got away in the lead and held the others safe throughout. Nullah, lucky at the start and skillfully handled, was the only serious contender in the stretch and beat the others away off for second place. Cardwellton followed the winner closely to the stretch, but boring out on the turn and losing much ground, he tired badly at the end. Hungarian got away slowly and ran in the rear to the half, where he moved up rapidly, but failed to stay in the closing drive and was short. Optimo was interfered with early and showed a good burst of speed in the middle hnif Evander failed to stay, found the track too fast and is strictly a mudlark. Overweights Hungarian, 5 pounds; Evander, 5; Lunga, 2. Louis Wagner, show, 9 to 10. Nullah, show, 6 to 5. Cardwellton, show, 7 to 10. SECOND RACE Course. 170 feet less than A 0070 Futurity 3-4 mile. Won in a canter; second easily. Dick Turpin, in grand form and very fit, indulged H. L. Frank to the far turn, where he went up to and passed him with great ease, coming away under a pull, far outclassed his field and is probably the best colt in training here. H. L. Frank made the running for half the journey and then relinquished his lead to the winner, but held on unexpectedly well and finished an easing up second. Military Man got away flatfooted and was badly outrun to the stretch, where he closed up with a whirlwind rush. Dr. Rowell, a very good looker and palpably on the big side, held on in third place to the last stride and Bullman appeared to be caught napping. Bombardier showed much improvement. Flea belongs elsewhere. Red Cross Nurse got away poorly and probably is best in soft going. Overweights Bombardier, 1 pound; Red Cross Nurse, 1. Dick Turpin, show, out. H. L. Frank, show, 1 to 5. Won pulled up; second easily. Sad Sam, very good and with a track to his liking, went out and spreadeagled his field, winning away off and was much the best. Money Muss, after a vain effort to get up, finally took matters easy the remainder of the journey and was easily second best. Albemarle loomed up in the stretch, then tired right at the end, but is consistent and ran a good race. St. Winifride could never get up into serious contention. First Chip was out of place and fell quickly out of the race and only looked half fit. Captivate has trained off. Start good. Won driving; second the same. Jockey Club raced quickly into a long lead and, entirely too much use being made of him, he tired in the stretch run, but stuck to his work gamely and was probably best. Nigrette, greatly improved, trailed the winner to the stretch, where she suddenly moved up and appeared like winning when commencing the final sixteenth, succumbing only in the last few strides. Caronal ran on the outside throughout, closing up with a whirlwind rush in the stretch and was probably unlucky to lose. Position trailed hopelessly out of it, making up some ground in the last quarter. Allopath showed speed for six furlongs, but failed to stay. Jockey Club, show, 1 to 3. Nigrette, show, 3 to 5. Shot Gun broke flatfooted but took the lead almost on the instant and won cantering throughout. Kenilworth was crowded in the first furlong and pulling up, had a rough journey to the stretch, where he closed up fast but never seriously menaced the winner. Peter J. moved up after trailing the field a quarter and finished a fast going third. Emshee went a steady good race from start to finish and showed great improvement. Amasa went a fast half and is good among his kind. Kenilworth, show, out. Peter J., show, out. SIXTH RACE 1 Mile. Purse 00. 3-year-olds and upward. Winner Br. g, by Preston-pans Loma trained by T. Boyle. Went to post at 4:1S. At post 1 minute. Start good. Won driving; second easily. Prestolus, skillfully handled, ran within hailing distance of the leader to the stretch, where he came through "on the inside and Martins best work was in evidence when he brought him up to win in the last stride. El Oriente made the running throughout, and but for a wide stretch turn would have won although he tired badly at the end. Ulowaho swerved all over the course and had a rough early journey, but is evidently all in, his race being bad. Discus closed up steadily in the last six furlongs and will make good over a distance of ground among this kind. Brennus is strictly a mudlark and failed to stay after a close attendance on the winner for six furlongs. Scratched 24973 Colonel Smith, 110; 432232Pat Morrissey, 102; 43225 Theodora L.. 102.
