GOSSIP OF THE TURF. Turney Bros., Paris, Ky., after a thorough veterinarian examination have ascertained that the race mare, Maud Gonne, will not again stand training, and they have ordered her retired to the stud. Maud Gonne is now five years old, by The Commoner Fer-onica, by Virginius. She was a good racer, having won the Tennessee Brewing Company, Memorial and Englewood stakes and many other races. C. E. Mahone states that his Mound City Derby winner, Banter, is doing well at Memphis, and will, he thinks, make a useful horse next season.
