It was an easy thing for Galanthus. When Buxton called on him he galloped past his field quickly and won easing up. Iras finished fairly well under a vigorous ride. Her headstall slipped but she could not have beaten the winner. Pilot showed all of his old-time speed and tried to make a runaway race, but tired badly in the stretch run. Andrattus ran poorly and can do much better. Sir Hugh had just started to make his run on the outside near the three furlongs post when he fell. Galanthus, show, 4 to 5. Iras, show, 3 to 2. Eugenie B. showed too much speed for hei; field, made a runaway race of it and is steadily Imprbvine. Durbar got away well, but Knapp took her back at once and when he called on her in the stretch she had all she could do to beat Metlakatla. The latter finished very fast, cominsr from behind under a strong ride in game fashion and is a fair filly. Sweet Tone, in need of a race or two, showed speed, but was palpably short. Annie Robinson displayed sneei. for a half mile, but tired badly. Scratched 43331 Brick Fowler, 106; 43294 Foxy Grandpa, 101. Eugenie B., show, out. Durbar, show, 3 to 5. Metlakatla, show, 3 to 2. Winner Br. f, by Chorister Maria trained by P. Dunne. Went to post at 2:29. At post 1 minute. Start good. Won driving; second easily. Mezzo showed sudden improvement over her previous race, was clearly best, but was inclined to bear out all of the last sixteenth and Walsh had to lay away his whip three times to keep her in. M. F. Tarpey showed the most early speed and ran a very good race. He is a very fair horse at present. Nitrate went to the post good and warm and ran about to his present form, had no mishaps and was well handled. Warte Nicht was simply cantering for the first seven furlongs and saved all the ground possible, but faded away in the last furlong. Scratched 433342Haviland, 106. Mezzo, show, out. M. F. Winner B. c, by Emperor of Norfolk Atalanta II. trained by G. W. Baldwin. Went to post at 3:00. At post 2 minutes. Start good. Won handily; second easily. Americano is in grand fettle, liked the track and showed speed enough to tire his field out in chasing him and won with a bit left. Princess Titania does not like such high weight and this track is not to her liking as it cups out from under her, she being a long striding inare. She stood a very hard drive gamely, but swerved badly near the end. Golden Mineral ran a fair race, but has no chance with either of the first two. Strife showed speed, but belongs elsewhere. Pat Bulger was badly outclassed. Scratched 133163Geheimniss. Ill; 43279 Sais, 104. Americano, show, 1 to 2. Princess Titania, show, out. Golden Mineral, show, evens. Strife,show,3 to 5. Henry Clay Rye showed wonderful improvement and was a good horse today. Mountain kept him within striking distance all the way, wont outside of the field and easily galloped past Jim Hale in the last hundred yards. Jim Hale appeared all over the winner on the last turn, but tired in a hard drive for the last furlong. Anvil showed the most early speed but tired badly. Cazador showed speed but quit badly. El Rio Shannon is of no account at present. Frank McKee went to the post stiff and sore. Scratched Mainspring, 93. Henry Clay Rye, show, evens. Jim Hale, show, out. Anvil, show, out. Rag Tag finished fast, but Spencer could not keep him up the first half mile. He is in good form and the track suits him. Best Man was poorly handled, Reiff put up a weak finish and was pinned in between E. M. Brattain and Rag Tag all of the last fifty yards and could not use his whip. Fustian ran a good race and it will probably improve him. Scratched 433513Nitrate, 112. E. M. Brattain, show, 2 to 5. Rag Tag, show, 1 to 3. Best Man, show, 1 to 5. Fustian, show, 1 to 2.
