Chaseaway got off in the rear division, but steadily Improved his position and got up in a fast stretch sprint to win in the last stride. Athens broke well and, setting the pace from the start. Increased his advantage into a big lead when straightened for home, but tired badly and his rider was probably caught napping. El Dorado finished with a great rush and is much improved. Waterspeed ran forwardly and held on well In the closing drive. Sallie K., a slow beginner, was In close quarters in the early running and finished like a cyclone, but too late. Winsome Ways, away very badly, closed a big gap. Paragon commenced to drop back from the start and ran as if green. Revenue failed to stay and can do better. Boomerang showed brilliant early speed. Bound Brook ran through into the lead in the first half and led for the remainder of the journey by a wide margin without being disturbed. Oleroso made a late move, in pursuit of the winner after beginning the last six furlongs and was easily second best. El Cuchillo ran on the extreme outside throughout, always under a terrific pull until in the last fifty yards, where he moved up, gaining twenty lengths In less than a sixteenth of a mile. Onteora ran forwardly and gamely throughout. Follow On retired after running prominently for a mile. War Paint quit. Python displayed speed and fenced well for a mile. Rye suffered from crowding at the start and made up ground gradually, was forced to the outside on the last turn, but caught and passed the leaders when a sixteenth out and won going away. Hot Toddy, from , a lucky start, maintained a forward good position in the early stages, was surrounded and shut off on the last turn, then swerved to the inside and finished with a rush and probably was hest. Robin Hood was in strenuous, but distant, pursuit of Lucy Young to the stretch, where he caught and passed her, but In turn succumbed to the other two and had stripped sore. Stoic held his own gamely throughout and shows steady improvement. Battleaxc, shut off early, never got into serious contention afterwards and can do better. Phalanx, knocked back iu the first furlong, closed up a lot of ground in the last half. Brilierv made up ground from a bad start. Lucy Young developed marvelous early speed, but as usual failed to stay. Brookdale Nymph jumped Into the lead at the start, but relinquished it on the first turn to Legend, which she indulged to the last turn, where she shot to the front and won as her rider pleased. Belle of Pequest, skillfully reserved for seven furlongs, moved up on the far turn and momentarily menaced the favorite, hut could never get up and stood a game closing drive to earn second place. Ballottu got away slowly, gradually made up ground and came with surprising speed at the end. Tipping ran forwardly and gamely throughout and is a fairly good filly. Prudential Girl trailed in the rear for nearly a mile and made up some ground at the end.. Legend, which had worked well, displayed superior speed for Seven furlongsjmd may have been short. d. Kosemount broke fast and decisively outpaced and outstayed his opponents, winning all the way like a coming good one. Marathon got away poorly and, despite inadequate handling, closed up steadllv, earning second place in a terrific end struggle. Montgomery showed surprising early speed, maintained a elose pursuit of the fast pacemaker throughout and was unlucky to have been beaten for second place. Barns-dale was forced to run on the outside through the last half and finished a fast going and close np fourth Royal Breeze was carefully reserved right behind the winner, but tired in the closing furlong. Yowric ran sluggishly and was in close quarters for the first half and forced back at a critical moment ou the last turn and was pocketed securely in the stretch.
