January :!». — The annual meeting of the shareholders of the Montreal Jockey Club held here today was an object lesson in international harmony. It was about as smooth a meeting as ever was held and not a propsatttaa was laid down during the afternoon that was not carried utiaii-hsously. When this club was formed and stock subscriptions invited from horsemen all over America there were doubters who thought that the components would not mix well; that they would t o strange to .me another, but this was disproved dav. Sir Montague Ainu, who presided, presented a very favorable report from the directors which was unani- i. cash passed. The whole of eastern Canada is with the new club ami the opening in June will be a memorable one.
